Title: Conversation with my aunt... >_<
Post by: Rafael del Corazon on January 07, 2006, 07:23:02 PM
So, last night my aunt and I had a conversation. She started it.
SHe asked if I wanted to be a boy. I guessed that she had been noticing my clothing a little more, along with my attitude.
I said yes. She asked if I wanted to wear boy underwear too.
I said yes. I told her that it felt "natural" to be in boy's clothes, and it didn't feel right to wear dresses and other things.
SHe and my cousins said that they felt offended when people called me "young man" or "buddy" and etc. I asked why and the only answer was "I'm offended".
I can tell that they hate my transgender feelings... Oh boy.
I don't even wanna think about what'll happen when we start GID therapy.
I frickin hate this.  T_T
I told my school therepist about my feelings, but he hasn't told my aunt. I'll have to tell him not to...
I hope that she won't start feminizing me...  :'(

I'm so sorry, Rafael, that your aunt and cousins are so unaccepting.  I hope you find a successful path through this dilemma.

Since most people do not have any clue about what transexualism is, perhaps you can get some information to your loved ones about it.  Maybe some printouts from the Wiki.  Once they see what it's really about they may come around.

I heard/saw a lecture on television yesterday that covered how normally intelligent and well grounded people can be completely irrational about their religeous beliefs.  I think that people's beliefs about sex and gender border on the same irrationality at times but, not as strongly.  If your family can learn more about your problems they may just come to see it a little more realistically.

In any event, hang in there and remember that EVERYTHING works out in the end.

I think you've chosen a good strategy, Rafael, bearing through this while you're dependent on her. I wouldn't share much information with her unless she shows she's ready to accept it. You're in too vulnerable a position now, but you will be free soon.

Hi Rafael,

It can be tough being GID and in a non supportive position. I think Dennis is right you need to be careful when your in a psoition where you don't have a lot of control over your destiny.

Patience is your most valuable asset at this stage as time will allow you to become more self supportive and also give your Aunt and cousins time to come around. Good luck on your journey and remember we are hear to listen.
