Title: Srs going off spiro
Post by: kitty007008 on November 26, 2015, 11:09:03 PM
Three weeks before surguy my surgeon wants me to go off of spiro, however the lead surgeons like Marcey Bowers have you only go off less than a week in advance, my question is what are the reasons and should I ask my surgeon about this?

its your body
people have different reactions on any type of medication used.
definitely talk to your doctors before you decide anything

Personally I'd do whatever the surgeon asks. If you have any problems at least it won't be from that.

I've never had much problem stopping spiro. Its estrogen that I don't like stopping.

every surgeon has their own prefferances. Iffin ye have concerns of their technique ye can an should ask them why they preferred their chosen method. When it comes to Dr's always remember, it's your body, ye mae bi placing yerself in their care, but YOU ar in charge. Always do yer homework an never fear asking questions in class!

Hello my surgeon was OK with the Spiro right up to SRS.  He did ask that I stop estrogen injections 2 weeks prior but instead I just reduced my dosage to a minimal level as recommend by Dr. Bowers.  Did not experience any of the discomfort often described with going cold turkey off HRT. I self-inject once a week.
Thank you,
Anne
