I had a nurse get all cranky with me 'cause my endocrinologist put an F on my bloodwork request. That differs from the M on the file that the lab keeps on me. He asked me about it and wanted to know if it was a typo. I told him that it was a bad assumption that my endocrinologist made. Then he said "you know, because the levels are just so different" to which I replied "well, [I'm undergoing HRT] so my levels are going to be different."
He pressed for me to make a binary decision about my gender on the spot, and I explained to him that I'm neither of those things. He ticked M and said "Well, when you're done with whatever it is that you're doing, make sure they get it right on your chart."
*sigh*
Okay. Sure, buddy. I'll get right on fixing BC's medical system to support nonbinary gender. Because that's what it takes to get a blank space on a form around here.
