Hey, I'm Katy, a pre-op MtF from Scotland. I'm currently DIYing at the moment since I'm having no luck getting into the NHS system at the moment, not feeling too great about it because of the risks but I got to a stage where I had to do something.
I joined because I've not got any support and I'm a long way mentally from coming out so it would be nice to speak to some people who've been through this before. I've kinda shut myself off from my friends and family, although it has made me feel a bit better in a sense, I still feel alone.

Here might be some support:

I'd say go the official route... take the time you need but keep at it... remember its a step by step process, go the next step...
you might carefully ask at local support groups or look on the internet for more info on going the official way... maybe someone could point you in a helpful direction...
you might look for some support... a gender therapist... maybe support groups...
there are even online gender therapists...
there are other young trans people...
https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,195129.msg1758946.html#msg1758946
Being in the UK you might contact the mermaids, its a group specifically for transgender youth:
http://mermaidsuk.org.uk
"We offer information, support, friendship and shared experiences."
and there is a chat on susans...
and if you want to talk to someone in person, you could talk to a friend or call here for example:
www.glbthotline.org/hotline.html
they also have a chat
www.translifeline.org
well... keep on keeping on...
there are many who have done this and succeeded :)
hugs

Thank you for all the kind messages. I do plan on going down the official route as soon as I can get an appointment, I think there's only 3 gender specialists for the whole of Scotland so the waiting time is about a year.
Laura_7 thanks for the links, I'll have a good read, I really feel it would be good to join a support group, just need to find the confidence from somewhere :)
