Acceptance at work has been great since I came out 2 years ago.I did announce that I was going to come back dressed as female the next school year 2 years ago in a letter.It was a shock for my fellow co workers at first.I am a 12th grade government teacher including 9th grade civics.Great thing there were no issues and my co workers/fellow teachers say I am a much better person.Includes the office staff and principals.My students I had were shocked also after I came out being transgendered.My current students call me by my new name now.Plus most of the female teachers have been a great help for me too,finding clothing stores and shoe stores I can shop at for work clothes easily.I do use the women's restroom and no issues there also.I did have to get a new ID made too.Plus I get respect from the kids whom are transgendered,look up to me knowing they are not alone.It is looking good now

That's great, LisaJ! It's important to have a place in your life where you have unconditional acceptance. My Sweetie is still struggling with this so knowing the people and work accept me as I am is a great relief.

Congrats, Lisa. I'm a high school teacher as well. I transitioned at the start of the 2013-14 school year. My students, colleagues and parents have all been fine with it.

Hi Lisa, I teach too. Came out this year, not had any real problems with students or colleagues. Just about everyone has been really supportive.

Same with the non transgendered students,it was a shock for them hearing I came out 2 years ago at first.Great thing is they see that I am finally happy.

That's great to hear that young kids these days seem to be kinder and coworkers are supportive at your schools! 
I recently started a new job and find that everyone respects me and are very supportive.  Im just another one of the guys at work and my job is a boys club so it's nice to finally fit in!

I had a talk with my HR rep at work about 2 months ago that I will be having some changes come over the next year. She is new to our company and Put me in touch with some of the other HR reps at the main building of my company. They were all understanding and helpful. I was given the choice that if things get awkward in my position at the building I work in  they can see about finding another position in another building to give me a fresh start. I hope to take them up on that offer next year. My work place is trans friendly. But I have that fear that some people will be jerks and that moving after I start HRT will be needed to give me a fresh start with new people that wont know Mike But will only know me as Lillian.
