Title: Has anyone tried Nair on your face?
Post by: abd789 on December 11, 2015, 05:53:04 AM
So I was reading in a beauty bible that using nair or depilatory cream will damage or change the follicles over time reducing hair growth, I know the bottle and the web says dont do it... but some brave soul has to have tried...

Im considering doing a test patch and seeing what happens....  :-\

I cant afford laser or electro at this time and just looking at options

Yes

Don't do it. It leaves a huge red rash all over your face.  Like a bad sunburn.

you brave soul you ::)

Ive used it on full body before, but only a few times, my back and chest are fighting me but they are loosing :D

I have gotten the rash here and there on my body, usually it goes away in a day or so... no worse than the redness when epilating, which I tried on my neck HOLY F'IN OUCH ???

Nooooooo.  I have tried it twice and it hurt really bad and didn't even remove the hair.  To make it worse, it left my skin so raw I couldn't even shave for a couple of days.

I couldn't resist adding my experience.  While it worked well on my legs (before my HRT stopped virtually all growth there) DON'T GET IT ON YOU SCROTUM!  Only happened once, then I only Naired while sober.  Good advice for anyone.

That made me wince just thinking about it. It sounds like a very bad idea.

OMG! Ive done that, then to make matters worse I grabbed the Aloe lotion, cuz aloe is good for burns, right? NO
that lit me on fire like gasoline... I screamed and nearly cried and sent me running through the house to get in the shower... I was panting by the time the flames went out!

Some are also for use in the face.

It takes persistency with them. They probably are not as effective as studio devices so it might take some time.

Nair in general is a bad idea and a waste of money. I'd say pass... nothing good will come of it.

And like others have said, DO NOT use it on your face unless you really, really like pain.

Yes ... I went low with it once. Oddly enough it seemed pain free, but I missed a spot and tried a bit more while still damp ... Omg so much pain....

Never again on a sensitive area.

Creams on the face?  DON"T DO IT!  Out of curiosity, a boyfriend from a few years ago tried it on his face rather than shaving; it ate his skin.  Those creams are strong enough to dissolve hair.  Think what it will do to your skin.

I posted elsewhere here at Susan's how I plucked my facial hair.  I began doing select areas to avoid anyone noticing a sudden appearance change.  During the course of a few weeks or a month or so I was eventually doing my entire face.  Full-face sessions did not take long - perhaps in an hour or so.  I could do it watching TV before bed-time or bright and early on a Saturday morning.  The results lasted anywhere from a few days to a week - no shadow.

Plucking before bed-time allowed my skin to settle over-night.  My electrologist confirmed that plucking helpt build my tolerance for electrolysis pain and made it possible for her to use high power and zap more hairs quickly per session than if I did not have that experience.

There are epilator devises nowadays that pluck hair in a swath and can make quick work of such a tweezing session.

Most if not all depilatory creams use an alkaline base such as sodium hydroxide.

The eye does not tolerate a reduction in the ph by exposure to alkalis.

It will blind you permanently.

Don't use them on your face!!
