Hello everyone I am Rikki. I just wanted to say I have been reading the forums for a long time now. Well I finally decided to take action a month ago and I finally was started on hrt Wednesday! I feel greet for the first time since I was a kid. Like I am finally working towards a new and better me. I have come out to my fiance (she is cis female) my boss at work (also cis female) and my sister. They have all understood and been understanding. My boss wants to have a sit down talk with our employees to make sure they will not have any issues. She said that she doesn't want them to haze me or anything. I work at a car shop with all males and then my female boss lol. So I am pretty nervous that they will not accept me. I also have not come out to my parents. My sister came out as gay to them some 10 years ago. So like she said that they already had their first shock. So my news shouldn't be as bad to them lol

Congratulations and welcome Rikki! :)
I recently came out and went full time at work in a manufacturing environment. In my own area it's 100% male other than me and I've had exactly zero issues and TONS of support, people are a lot more understanding than you might think. I know my guys have been amazing.
I'm lucky, and it sounds like you are too, in that the companies' we work for are supportive which makes a huge difference.
Best of luck on your journey and hope to see you around the forums!

Thank you! Yes so far I have been extremely lucky. My boss when I told her she got excited and said I KNEW IT! She is an awesome person very supportive of my transition shes always asking me new questions. I think she is excited to have another girl working in the shop lol. My fiance on the other hand is supportive but uneasy about it. She wanted me too and convinced me to start the hormones. So yes I am very lucky to have the support I do already.

Thank you I will. My fiance has made it clear that she is not going to leave me. No matter what. So that is very comforting.

Hi Rikki, welcome to Susan's. I hope your coming out to them goes well. You would think that generally having someone coming out before you help make it easier. On the most it has been easier, but more so since I came out during my first transition go around. Then another relative came out as trans and moved forward whose transition was more warmly received because of me. So when I came out again my second time people were able to handle it well, but I already knew who would or wouldn't take it well based on my first ago around my relative who transitioned too. I hope all goes well and keep us post. I look forward to seeing you around on the forums. Good luck and Hugs

First of all, welcome! Second, congratulations on coming out and taking the steps toward a fulfilling life. :)
I work at an auto restoration shop, so I sympathize with the difficulty of coming out at work in the automotive field!! It was my last big hurdle to come out at work, but luckily I have an open-minded boss, and accepting and supportive co-workers. One of them is a girl too, which probably helped a bit. :)

Great and good for you. I doubt I would have this kind of courage. I'd just move to a different state. >.<

Thank you!! Yes I would hope so. My father is very accepting. So I do not think I will have any problems with him. My mother on the other hand I think will be the one that might flip out. She flipped out when my sister came out and said she was gay.... This is kinda way different but still like my sister said along the same road. So ya know I guess I am just going to hope for the best.

I hope I am as lucky as you!! I know I have nothing to worry about with my boss. One or two of the guys in back I feel might have an issue with things..... My boss told me that we were going to have a sit down with them and she is going to let them know she will have zero tolerance with jokes about or towards me. She wants to make things as easy as possible for me at work and I think she is excited that there will be another girl at work lol. We already talk about clothes, my breast growth, and everything else lol. I love that she is asking questions all the time as well!!

Yea I am ready to take it face on! I have been pushing this off since I was 18. I'm 28 now and I look back and wonder why I tried to be something that I simply was not........ Oh well I am starting now and looking forward to the changes. Social, mental, and Physical. I hope I did not get my mothers genes in the physical dept........ I don't want them that huge!!
