I just joined this website. This is my first time trying to reach out to the transgender/transsexual community, and hopefully through this I can grow to be more comfortable with myself.
Unfortunately, due to certain factors in my personal life, family relations and living arrangements and the whatnot, I am still living life as a "female". Pre-T, unable to bind; at the moment, the most I can do to make my appearance look remotely masculine is through the clothes, layering, and the like. And even then, I'm always taken for being just the tomboy type instead.
However, I'm planning to get my hair cut soon, and I'm hoping that this will help somewhat with my appearance. I had it long my whole life, and I cut it short a few months ago. However, I feel that my present haircut is still too feminine? Or perhaps it's just that my face, regardless of the kind of haircut I get, looks feminine. I'll be going to get a new haircut soon, the date is yet undecided, and I'm hoping to get a more masculine looking hairstyle. Would it be better to cut it shorter, or try a completely different style? Unfortunately, my face is very small, even for girls, and it's fairly round, so I'm concerned that no matter what I do it won't make a significant difference.
If anyone were to have any advice it would be welcome.

I'd suggest shortening it on the sides, shaving off sideburns and then squaring them off as they grow back in. If that doesn't work, go shorter all over until you feel like it's a good fit.

Hey you have a decent face tbh. And even with a reasonably long Justin beiber type hair you can use that to make a masculine style (ie, have a shower and slick it back afterwards whilst wet and leave a hat on then once it is dry you have a slick back which you can control to comb in about two seconds into a side part and you can get away with that by saying you were sick of it getting in your face. And having it off your face makes your face appear longer because less of it is obscured.
If you want it shorter then always with short on the sides and squared sideburns (say that you think pointy ones look messy) and always make sure your hair is far off your face or at least not far on your face (if you don't like your hairline) because I've discovered that hair on my face makes my face shorter and look rounder and hair off the face gives a sharper look and as it is we need all the angles we can get.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah, I think I'm definitely going to try getting the sideburns squared, and then see about getting at least the sides shorter. The only problem now is, which I myself forgot when writing my original post, is that my current school is also fairly strict on hair styles, and they might not quite approve of that... But, as I'll be moving in slightly over a month anyway, that's not a very big issue. At most I'll have to wait a few weeks to get it cut how I want, but I'm glad to go ahead and be able to start gathering a solid image for what it is I should do.

Hey. Just wanted to say that as well as having an undercut hairstyle (shaved close on the sides) you can keep your hair quite long on the top (maybe 5 inches) and have some layers put in. That way the hairstyle is a lot more versatile. You can put in pomade for a masculine look which will make your quiff look neat and tidy. Or you can put in wax which will create a messy more feminine looking quiff. I have my hair like that now and prefer it to having my hair super short because I can change up my look daily depending on if I'm in a feminine or masculine mood.

Taller styles and shorter sides help with the roundness as well C: I would find a picture of someone whose hair you like (male or female) + bring it with you. If you're shy about asking for a mens' cut there are some genderfluid people who appear pretty feminine (like Ruby Rose) you could use as examples.

Before I came out or knew about ftm stuff, I got a "pixie cut" which if you google, will come up. Now I simply get short back & sides, #3 on the sides and a bit on the top.
Just today I got one, the hair lady completely <not Permitted> it up, decided to shave my head and leave a tin tin tuft.

It's a guy we give advice to, not a girl. He asked for guy haircut, not feminine haircut. :)
