A comedian who came out as trans last year has changed his mind – and will now be living as a man again.

Will Franken had announced last year that he would be transitioning to female full-time, taking on the name Sarah Franken.

The comic opened up to PinkNews in July after performing for the first time as Sarah – but six months on has 'reverted' back to Will.

In MHO: Frankly, this shouldn't be news but there was quite a hullabaloo when he came out as transgender. But 6 months on into transition he decides to de-transition. There shouldn't be any recrimination for de-transitioning before it's too late. Unfortunately for him some of the resons for de-transition were the abuse and fears he had as Sarah. No one ever said transition was easy - much less social transition. Just ask all those who have lost family, friends, jobs, housing, not to mention their lives. What the world needs to realize is that you don't wake up one morning and all of a sudden decide, I think I'd like to be a girl Well's situation is a good case for RLE, gender transition should not be something taken on lightly. On the other hand for those who need to transition, it is truly life saving.

So the moral of the story:Think before you leap, think it through, see a therapist, see a doctor (don't self-medicate), follow the WPATH guidelines. I'm all for a year of RLE before surgery. You'll never make everyone happy, but I would prefer to see 0% regrets than lurid stories of those who went, transitioned, had surgery, changed their mind and then became a poster child for the anti-trans folks.   JMHO

This comment by him hints that he probably was transitioning for all the wrong reasons anyway.

"Writing in the Independent, Franken explained that he had become "utterly bored with the topic of ->-bleeped-<-" after making the change – and no longer wishes to live as a woman."

I just hope that he, being a comedian, doesn't turn the whole thing into a big public joke.

It's not for us to determine anyone's reasons for following their own path. This was the statement that I found telling:

"...Being Sarah was something I underwent in yet another attempt to discover myself. And throughout the process, I discovered I am not a woman."

I can relate to this, I'm not a woman, either. It took a while for me to figure it out, as it did for this person. I'll not pass judgement on them for that.

I may be missing or misreading something but I didn't see the article as supporting that. I followed a couple more links and came across this, which seems quite different (I don't agree with that last bit either because I'm one of the people that would suffer).

"In every interview I've given on the topic of ->-bleeped-<-, I was always clear that I had no intention to either have the operation or undergo hormone therapy. I harboured no plans to physically alter my body in any way whatsoever."

There also seems to be far more talk about the practical difficulties rather than gender identity, but that might just be the journalist.

I like the dress though

AnonyMs,   Sorry to give the impression if any of what you quoted from my post you thought as being in the article. That was just me editorializing, and the point was that one should take transition as far as they need to, not that surgery is the end all for all people, and if transition isn't for them, that is a valid option too. In other places I've seen people demonized for de-transitioning, and if after exploring their path they find out transition isn't for them, that is all well and good.

Made some clarifications - hope it's more clear.
