Title: Hi, I am Charla
Post by: Charla on January 02, 2016, 12:25:04 PM
I joined this site after lurking for several years.  The quality of the posts in the transgender section were the reason I decided to register and become a part of the community.

I am in Houston, TX. Have have been crossdressing for many years and finally realized that I had significant gender dysphoria and even prolonged CDing was giving only minimal relief.  I started seeking a good counselor in the Houston area that would be covered by my insurance and am still looking.  In the meantime, I began to realize that as old as I am (63), it's  unlikely I will be able to transition very well, so I began to seek ways to moderate my GID.  My doctor listened to my request to give a medical remedy to a psychological issue and prescribed an AA and DHT inhibitor for me.  It's helped a little but I plan on asking for E to help out.

In the meantime, I continue to do some femme things, like manis and pedis and under dressing and practicing makeup. I am only out to my counsellors and not my wife, so it's the usual tightrope many of us walk.

Welcome to Susan's Place. Age isn't a limiting factor on the transition and we have members who are around you age and are various stages of the transition. I know of one who hand surgery just last spring so it will be a question of what will make you comfortable with your self instead of you age. You may desire only moving into the feminine role full time without surgery and again we have members that are comfortable in that role. You are free to explore any options that will make you comfortable and we help you however we can. You may also ask me anything about my past or knowledge and I will do my best to reply.

We issue to all new members the following links so you will best be able to use the web site.

Hi Charla;

Welcome to Susan's Place.

Lot's on here to read and learn. I transitioned at 58 so it's never too late, however I no longer had a wife before I decided I had enough of the internal battles and embrace my true self! I've not looked back since.

As for passing, I don't care. It's about me and how I perceive myself although I admit there is room for improvement!

Love,
Clare

Hi Charla. I'm 66 and just beginning transition.  In fact, my therapist is writing my HRT letter at my appointment tomorrow.  In my case though I have been out to my wife since before we were married and while I'm sure she would have preferred things remained the same, she is supportive.
