Hi everyone,

I'm new to it and have a question.

My Endocrinologist prescribed me a bio-identical estradiol cream (not allowed), twice a week without Anti-Androgen. Is it going to be effective on me? Any experience? By the way I'm MTF:)

As Mariah2014 says, we can't advise you.  We aren't endocrinologists, and we don't know your medical history.  You might just as well ask us to talk you through doing brain surgery on yourself via forum post.

If you are uncertain as to whether what your endo is prescribing is best for you, I suggest you find a second endo for a second opinion.  If possible, find someone who has experience with HRT for trans patients.  Second opinions are always good.

I'm on spiro pills plus estradiol pills, and my impression is that that is kind of the default for the medical facility I use (an LGBT-focussed facility.)  However, I know someone who had nasty side effects on that regime and went to a different provider who recommended different stuff.  So I know that what works for one person may not work for another.

I have an awesome relationship with my Doctor. I would always ask questions; I would bring a list of questions. I am settled on a regiment so I have few questions now but I usually have one. We always go over my blood work and he has a bunch of questions around my personal life, transition and depression medication and issues my about depression. My doctor treats the whole person and not just one aspect. I think this is because I developed a relationship with him.

There is a lot to learn about HRT, the different regiments and dosages. More important is how you are, your personal, mental and physical progress. HRT is a marathon and not a sprint. Do not forget to breath and enjoy your transition.

Endocronoligists who are worth their profession will alway get you off to a soft, low dose start. Just to see how you handle a complete rewrite of an extremely important bodily function.

The body's endocrine system is such a delicate well balanced system comprising of over 5,000 unique substances; any profound changes to it, which is what HT is all about, has to be managed and supervised professionally.

While I am no medical doctor... I started out on an estrogen cream <Not Permitted>/day "Biest" with no anti-androgen.
After the first year... I ended up at... 7 Total Testosterone and only 27.9 PG/ML Estradiol. After That I switched a <Not Permitted>/day patch and <Not Permitted>/day Spirono. 2 months later I am now at .14 Total testosterone and 121.7 PG/ML Estradiol.

But your team of doctors will know what is best, a slow start on these sort of things is probably the best route.
