Title: I Need a New Doctor.
Post by: shanetastic on October 02, 2007, 04:54:11 PM
My doctor was a local guy that was there for the tests mainly, and wasn't too intelligent when it comes to transsexuals, so now I need to look for a new doctor.  I live a couple hours away from Los Angeles, so I was looking to search for one in that area.

Before I do, although, I was wondering if you knew of any good endos that are trans friendly in Los Angeles, I figured there has to be some with such a huge city and population.  I found the website to this one guys place, but it looks really shady.  To me it doesn't seem like he follows the standards of care or anything, but I could be wrong.  I don't think it's against the rules to post the site, but if it is please feel free to edit it.  Let me know if you think this guy is shady, because I'm leaning towards that directon right now. http://hamiltonlove.com/default.htm

Again, if anyone knows any good doctors please let me know.  This whole searching thing is difficult, but I want a really good doctor that deals with trans patients.  Thanks for your help.

Shane there is a ton of LGBT clinics in California, especially the LA area.  At this point they all do HRT and most accept insurance.  I go to one in here in DC (Whitman Walker).  While some may be GP instead of endos, the GPs who handle trans people are generally more experienced with trans patients than endos with limited experience.

That is my advice, search out the LA LGBT clinics, or whatever is closest to you.

Thanks Amy.  I wasn't ever quite sure on what to search.

Hi, Shanetastic,

Please try a Google search on   Transsexual Resources Southern California    and see what falls out.  You should be able to find some help that way.  Just nosey, do you live in Riverside County, up there in the high desert country?  That's a long ways from everywhere.

Amy, I am familiar with the wonderful work and help provided by the Whitman Walker Clinic.

Hope this helps.

Hi Shanetastic

I don't like the vibes I get from that O'Dea fellow "creepy". Like someone who only cares for money.

Cindy.

That's what I got too :)  That's why I'm looking for the clinic of some sort.  Something more dependable and more safe as it seems like.

Hey Wing Walker,

Thanks for telling me some googling ideas.  And I live near Santa Barbara, so I'm currently looking for places in Santa Barbara or Los Angeles.  I just figured LA would have more education and experience on the subject of this.  Just assuming that because it's a bigger city and all.  But I'm still trying hard to look for a place.  I'm going to talk with my therapist about it this week and see what she says.
