I found a topic from my old account, that I forgot the login for so long, about favorite songs. It's funny how music taste changes.
My favorite songs in 2013 when I posted it were Shame by Depeche Mode, Into the Mirror by Minus the Bear, and Carried Home by Iron and Wine.
Now my favorite aongs are:
Aftergold by Big Wild
Serpent Charmer by Iron and Wine
It Don't Move Me by Peter, Bjorn, and John
American Life by Primus
So, what are your favorite songs?

'Monsieur L'Abbe' by Michel Polnareff (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFtGt2N-3hk)

Met a new friend Yann - she's visiting from France. I started playing these Polnareff oldies for her and she gushed for home.
Having recently re-discovered this after one year not hearing it has already made my year.
Thank you, Yann and Li, for all your friendship; let's never let this end.

Man, I love all kinds of music. Heavy metal, R&B, Hip Hop, Pop, videogame soundtracks, 8-bit chiptunes, the list is endless!^^
One song that always gets me going and inspired is I Believe I Can Fly by R. Kelly. Loved it since I first heard it off of Space Jam a couple decades ago and I sing along to it to this very day! ;D

another favorite: Joe's Garage - Frank Zappa
a funny, slightly wistful tale of a garage band that drifted apart, unusual for a Zappa song to display what appears to be genuine sincerity.
This song was based on the 1979 band members' experiences with their first bands.

Now Is Here (Clannad) - I had this played at my wedding, there's something particularly magical about it that's always spoken to me on many levels.
In The Stone (Earth, Wind and Fire) - my favourite EWF track, this never fails to pick me up.
Englishman In New York (Sting) - "Confront your enemies, avoid them where you can/A gentleman will walk but never run", "Be yourself no matter what they say"
These Colours Don't Run (Iron Maiden) - a statement of courage, duty and defiance cemented by Bruce Dickinson's use of the phrase during the Eggfest incident.
The Show Must Go On (Queen) - though in general songs have lives beyond any single rendition I feel uncomfortable with cover versions of this as this is so defined as Freddie Mercury's swansong - to deliver that performance (not just this song but the album Innuendo as a whole) while dying, knowing it would be his last - I only hope I could go out that way.

A favorite thing is something that you have returned to over and over again over a long period of time, so like years I guess? That is just my opinion though. Anyways, it is this song apparently.

Pretty much anything Thomas Bergersen composes, but I always have been loyal in saying that "El Dorado" is my favorite piece he did even though I still find new ones that I really love.

Probably the song I'll never tire of hearing is Miriam Makeba's Pata Pata. Manfred Mann's Pretty Flamingo is probably my second favourite. Like most people of my generation I can also spend a lot of time listening to the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Kinks, the Beach Boys and Creedence.
I think that part of what makes a favourite song is remembering the events that took place when first I heard it.
