Hi

Some time ago, I had my ears pierced. The pistol technique.
I did as asked, I kept that in my ears for six weeks. Cleaned around it twice a day. Twisted the placeholders twice a day.

When I took them out after six weeks, it was still bleeding. I was able to wear earrings for a night, and then not anymore. No wonder it was healing since it was bleeding.

I am not willing to try the same again. I googled a little. What other means for ear piercing can you recommend? Thanks.

By healing I mean holes were closing. The holes were not healing to stay there, is that what you mean? I think we mean the same.

I could feel the channels through my ears back then. Now I don't even see the dots of the holes.

Do you know if you had an allergic reaction to the post material?

No allergic reaction at all from start to the end. Nothing was swollen or changed in color. Not that I could notice. That is what I know. The earrings say ' 925 Sterling Silver'. Ears were bleeding before I put them in.

I would prefer if we could talk about alternative methods rather than what went wrong with the attempt 1. By the best of my knowledge it all went by the book.

Doctor's off or another place that uses a sterile needle to pierce your ears might be better for you. Hugs

I have two holes on each ear, and I had them done by professional piercers (at piercing and tattoo/piercing shops).  They use a hollow tool that makes a larger hole, rather than a solid needle that just stretches it out, like the gun.  I've had no trouble with them at all, and would never, ever go back to a gun piercer.  I can give recommendations in the LA area. 

Someday they will finally start using lasers for this. ;D

Gun piercings don't always work for everyone, although it may cost a bit more you might have better luck going to a professional shop in your area

The shop I went to is a [professional] jewelry shop. Got it recommended from people who it worked for.

Seems like I have bad luck. Will try more things.

Sorry to hear that it hasn't gone well  :-\  I guess I was lucky, I checked out various shops around town for about a week before I decided to get it done at a beauty salon, the gals showed me their certificates and had several years of experience

The first piercing went just fine without a hitch, the second piercing gave me a bit of trouble and took longer to heal but I just kept at it with the daily cleaning and I also soaked the studs in alcohol and put a dab of triple antibiotic ointment on the holes before putting the studs back in (Basic puncture wound procedure)

I always advise against the use of guns. The fact that they aren't sterile and just the gun method in general is enough to put me off.

I'd say find a reputable piercing studio and ask their advice before risking infection. They may be able to do something for you now. If not, just wait until they can. It'll cost a bit more but worth it in the long run.

What they used looks like a gun, but it doesn't make physical touch with me. The sterile placeholder earrings are one timers that consist of two parts. They are placed in the gun and they are the only thing that touches me. In other words, the gun is there to provide force, but aiming and piercing only involves the placeholders. Gun only touches them in any case.

Is that the 'gun' technique as you know it?

I've always gone to tatto/ body art places for piercings. You might want to check into shops like that near you! I have had both ears done, nose, and lip. They all use stainless needles if I remember correctly. Never had any problems. They did not use a gun.

It is normal for it to bleed even after 6 weeks. However, it should stop in a few seconds, minutes. I've had my ears pierced using a gun for quite sometime now and sometimes when I try to use a bigger earring on my tiny earring hole it would bleed a little.

Just make sure to clean it and do NOT re-puncture it again. The hole will not be closing right away. It will be painful to put it back in. However, if it's within your budget to get a 14k gold earring instead of the silver earring and see if you get a better reaction.

I was also a bit allergic to silver when I first started wearing earrings and it went away eventually. Hope this helps!

That's right.

Always go for needles over guns. Most places that deal solely in piercings will use them.
