I suppose I should start doing that at some point, but I just can't imagine actually doing it presenting male and all.

Any idea when are you supposed to start doing these? I'd like to avoid it if possible.

My breasts are whole lot newer than the rest of me. Maybe that helps?

When I saw my endo last week he told me that I would need to start  after 10 years on HRT. It was on my chart to have it done now, also listed a cervical exam  :o

I think I'll ask my endo as well. I expect he knows these things.

I think I can safely skip the cervical exam...

I believe you can practice by slamming your boob in the fridge door.

One of he women I worked with at my previous job was over 50 and had them every year. She was not a big fan. I'm not sure if breast size is an issue but she reckoned that the bigger the better in terms of having something to stick between the cold metal plates that they smoosh together. Sounds like so much fun.

Thanks Hon!

Next time I'm in Sydney I'll bring a sandwich maker and we can try!

(Are you going to post the pic?)

10 years? So when I'm 46? I wonder what kind of insurance I'll have then.

Congrats Cindy :)

My doctor said I didn't need a mammogram. There are a number of studies that find that trans women on HRT have the same breast cancer rate as cisgender males.

I have had several exams and yes, the machine is designed like some kind of medieval torture device. I may be a little uncomfortable but I wouldn't consider it painful. On the other hand, I never had breast sensitivity so there may be something special waiting for those who respond to hormones better than it did  >:-)

Last year there was an event dedicated to Pink Ribbon Day with tents, slogans, information leaflets ant whatnot. They were also inviting women (especially mothers) into those tents to give free of charge lecture on how to examine Your breasts as well as to screen You... I happened to drive by with my daugther and I had to come up with all sorts of excuses ( and make it quick) to avoid being pulled inside one of those tents :D.  Being on a bicycle certainly helped a lot :D

I had to drive my wife down to the hospital's, Women's Center for her mamogram a few weeks ago.  She mentioned on the drive home I could look forward to that and then described every step of it in detail.  She seemed rather gleeful during the description.  ???

In all seriousness, since I have a little gynecomastia, she taught me to do a breast self exam years ago which is a good idea for everybody!

I think the best simulator would be a flat-bed scanner, operated by a strong friend -- and for an even more realistic experience, you could actually scan them.

Is that anything like sitting on the copy machine without any panties on?   ::)

Certainly not! This is for medical purposes.
