Im a complete mess lately and considering going back on meds... last time I was on Lamictal and Abilify, which was the best I ever felt... but I went off it so I could suffer again... ???

Ive been on everything prozac, paxil, wellbutrin, lexapro, etc

but concerned about my upcoming HRT app and wether these meds will have bad interactions. Im sure Id not be the only trans person to need meds like this....

Well it's too early for me to say. But I'm on Lexapro and not having any problems. My endo didn't seem to think it would cause a problem either.

Best bet is to talk to your doctor and find out for sure.

I dont have a doctor and I dont have a pharmacist.... Im wondering if anyone here takes both, has been taking both and were warned of or realized any negative side effects

How do you get your hormones and medications? Through a pharmacist. Ask the pharmacist. They know about interactions. Who prescribes your hormones and medications?

Not necessarily "cautious". Just being responsible not to post information that could possibly be used by someone and could potentially/inadvertently harm themselves.

You can actually just go to any pharmacy and tell the pharmacist what it is that you're taking and doses. They'll be able to tell you right there and then.

As I recall you stated that you were on an unconventional HRT, I'm not sure that anyone but a doctor or pharmacist could tell you for sure... personally, I would ask at a pharmacy. It's free advice from the pharmacist. They don't charge for asking.

Just Google "drug interaction calculator" and you will find many sites that let you enter the drugs you take, and see if there are any possible interactions.

I do not have a doctor at the moment, I do not have a HRT script either... I have leftover meds from last time they were prescribed to me and have been considering restarting them. If I feel they help, I will arrange thru my therapist to get a new script. I have a HRT appointment coming up in March... with a doctor... but I guess I dont want to start anti-dep now if they will interfere with that starting in march... I guess Im just in such a dark place, I cant wait to start doing something.... thats it in a nutshell

Pharmacist. Take the one you have and ask the Pharmacist if there would be any interactions with the prescription that you think that you'll recieve in March. That would be at least a 70% answer.

Nothing to worry about.  I have used HRT meds with the psych meds you name for over a decade, with no no ill or undesired side effects. Several physicians along the way have also advised that there are no adverse effects of HRT and psych meds on each other.  Each will do its thing without interacting.

I suffer from Schizoaffective Disorder in addition to other medical issues. I take a combination of antidepressants and antipsychotics.

I take:

• spironolactone
• estrogen patches
• Wellbutrin
• Effexor
• Quetiapine
• Trazodone
• Seroquel XR

I have not had any ill effects.

As others have pointed out a doctor or pharmacist can give you better answers. I also use a medication reminder app on my phone that lists possible interactions between my meds and nothing pops up as an adverse interaction between the psych meds and the HRT meds.
