i made this account to ask for help about a specific issue, but i didn't want to be rude, so i want to follow any formalities here so yes, hi, it's my introduction thread
a little about me, i started hrt years ago, stopped after 3 years, and just now resumed. my SO is just about the only support i have in my town, although recently i've found a couple of friends.

thank you! i think your links are kind of helpful, but i think i have a few questions
i do understand the reasoning for this, however my current doctor is requesting that i do research on dosages myself, and so if this is the policy for most websites, i'm not sure how i'll be able to do such research. could you point me to the proper board that i should take this discussion to or give me any advice as to what i should tell my doctor?
also, it seems i will need to wait to ask my question about my problem until i have 15 posts. so this discussion will probably help me get there... thank you in advance
QuoteC. The posting of recommended, or actual dosages, is strongly discouraged to prevent information obtained on this site from being used to self medicate.

Welcome to Susan's Place. Dosage information is forbidden. It sounds like your doctor isn't an Endo or this information would already be known. The current method of setting a dosage involves knowing the maximum amount of hormones that are considered a "safe dose" and then starting low, ramping the dose over time. Your liver function is tested and blood hormone levels are compared to the desired standard. Some people can have a transition dose with a low dose while others require the maximum.
When I transitioned, blood hormone levels weren't checked and we just received the maximum dose. In my case, I was resistant to any sex hormone or my body couldn't reach a transition level with any safe dose. In either case, after years of hormones, I still have a rather boyish figure with no boob or butt. :(

Hi Problems (gotta work on that name! ;D ) welcome to Susan's Place! I'm from Boston. There are medical sites that show the information you are looking for, your doctor shouldn't have much trouble finding out what they need to know. See you around the site!

thank you all so much for great welcome!
thank you for letting me know about the rules! i definitely want to show the proper local etiquette.
also, thank you very much for detailing why it's important to start on a low dose or not. that answered a lot of questions for me.
i think the problem i signed up to ask about might be over, but when i get enough posts i'll definitely elaborate on it in the correct discussion.
also, i apologize for being away for so long, i've been working and had a ton of busy things.
i'll check out the rest of the forums soon!
