my eye lashes grow pretty long & thick, with a girly look, so every six months or so i cut them.
is this alright though? any side effects? looks way better when I cut them short

I have extremely long, thick and dark eyelashes (people always think they're fake eyelashes due to their dramatic look) so I cut them every 3 weeks or so. It all depends on how you cut them - it can make or break the look.
After a quick search, no, there doesn't seem to be any negative side effects apart from maybe strange regrowth. You also have to cut them very carefully - I can PM you how to do it properly if you'd like (or, at least, the way that works for me). If you cut them incorrectly they may end up looking darker and thicker than you'd like.
