"The Westboro Baptist Church has targeted the creators of the new LGBT-themed children's book Square Zair Pair — a story which promotes diversity and acceptance of others who are different.
Members of the antigay church based in Topeka, Kansas, and comprised mostly of family members of the late Rev. Fred Phelps, have threatened to picket the first live reading of the story scheduled to take place Saturday, February 6 at 11 a.m. at Books Inc. in San Francisco's Castro district, where Square Zair Pair is being debuted as a part of the bookstore's "First Saturday Storytime." Let me get this straight: Members of the WBC are going into CASTRO of all places to protest a LGBT affirming book?
Sort of like going into the baddest part of the Bronx and waving a bunch of Go Red Sox banners. I have a feeling said protest will not be well received by the community.

Something tells me if they show up, they're going to know what Custer felt like. I'd love to be there.

I would imagine this will be similar to when they tried to picket the high school where the students chose a transgender teen as the Homecoming Queen. Westboro was chased off by a large group of students chanting "Long live the Queen." For some reason, I feel the residents of the Castro won't be as restrained as the students were.
