Title: Question on HRT
Post by: Kathy245 on October 08, 2007, 10:56:49 AM
Hi.  I'm new here and this is my first post.  I have a question on HRT effects.  I have been on HRT for almost 2 weeks now (under a doctor's supervision).  At app. 11 days, my nipples started to ache.  I knew that this would happen as I progressed.
One thing I didn't know, if it is normal, is "Do the nipples get or stay hard for longer periods of time?"  I have noticed that they are often hard by themselves, and if not, I can get them hard in just a few seconds by rubbing them.

I was just curious.  Thanks so much for your help.  By the way, I love this site.  There is so much information that is so helpful.

Thanks again,

K

Hi Kathy hun,
Welcome to Susan's. What you are experiencing with the nipples is quite normal. No, even though they may stay hard for long periods of time they will soften again. The cold can also make them get hard. This will happen more frequent especially after you have been on the mones for a while. What you will notice as you progress is soreness in the fleshy area around the nipples. Don't let that alarm you it is only normal breast tissues beginning to grow. It's not an intense soreness it is more like the subdued soreness on would feel from a bruise.

As times marches on you will also get to experience the wonderful world of feelings and emotions. like discovering a whole new range of colors you never saw before.

Next should be the shifting of body tissue and muscle, like to the hips, and facial etc. Depending on your age this process can happen within as little as a two year span but longer depending on age.

Hello, Kathy,

Welcome to Susan's.

So your nipples are getting a sore, raw feeling?  You're right, that's how breast development starts.

Since I was a pre-teen my nipples were always extremely responsive to anything touching them, sending sensations like lightning through me. I was "wired" that way.

OK, IMHO, if your nipples are hard all the time or can get hard at the lightest touch, ***enjoy it!!!***

I was 51 years old when I started on HRT and my ex was so jealous of my nipples being hard that I truly thought that she would harm me in my sleep.  I got out of there before she had the chance.

This is all my own opinion:  some women don't mind if their nipples are hard under their clothing and some want to hide them.  I wear a bra but I make no effort to hide my nipples by squashing them.  They are doing as Mother Estrogen has made them to do and I'm enjoying it far too much to get in her way.

Please keep me posted on your progress if you wish.  I'm not a doctor or therapist, just someone who has walked your trail before you.

Be well, be happy, and enjoy your time of wonderment!

Wing Walker
Welcome to the Skies

Cindy you are so right about emotions! Like our crying jags,OMG! Intense sometimes doesn't describe them. But I wouldn't change them for anything. Jolene

Hi Jolene4ever
Yes it is very intense. If you are crying from being sad or hurt the feeling goes deep and you shed tears. I call this kind of intense feelings cleansing the poison from the soul. If one cries from happiness or sentementality etc. You will find that both the negative and the positive emotions become equal in intensity at this point.  When I feel emotions and feelings at that depth I simply release it as a prayer to Universe, transforming emotions to healing energy.

Cindy, that's such an excellent description of it! One of the many blessings of being a girl.

Thanks Hypatia

Yes I am proud to be woman. I have always been a sensitive person for as far back as I can remembered. These feelings were already there, they were just being repressed by the person I was in my prior life. After not being able to show my feelings for so long it became difficult and it hurt, so that I hade to turn them off altogether. And that's the way it was until I got on the hormones,  they intensified my sensitivities. But it has been such a wonderful release, like floating in a rainbow of feelings. The hormones intensified my feelings, but this time I had also learned how to release these emotions lest they get to become like an overload, which can be poison for the spirit. So the way I see it now is if I were walking on main street Vancouver here, I would not hesitate t to release what ever tears necessary, it's a woman's prerogative, and she has darn well earned the rights to cry anywhere she pleases. ;D

I especially love to sit by the stereo and listen to music that sometimes brings me back to when I was little and in my teens sentimental stuff , "OH YES, baby! welcome home Mama." I love to just sit there and smile, a great big silly smile while wiping tears from my soggy eyes with tissue from a near by box of tissues. I love my feelings and emotions. I can't imagine life without them now. It is such a wonderful way to show your love and care towards another, I have so many times gone into stores and shops and brought smiles on peoples faces, especially my Soul Mate. You see hun, this way I don't accumulate any negative energy for very long and I don't accumulate enemies this way either. How can they hate me when their to busy laughing their backside off over my silly jokes.   ;D

As noted, persistently hard nipples is normal.  This is because the tissue inside is rapidly growing and it takes time for the skin to catch up.  As far as I've been able to tell, there are several phases in nipple development.  During the first year or so, they are hard and hyper-sensitive.  After a time, mine became softer and would only be erect occationally.  I also noticed that they are alot less sensitive than before I started HRT.  That is slowly changing, and they are becoming more sensitive again.  Near the end of breast development, the nipples finally reach full-size.  During that growth spurt, I expect them to be hard all the time again, then settle down into whatever the final result will be.
