Title: Best Top Surgeon for People of Color

Hi everybody,
I have been saving up for surgery for almost two whole years now and I'm glad to report that in about a couple of months or so, I will have enough for surgery regardless of who I go to (just as a safety net, I'm saving up at LEAST 8k). Because I still have time to consider who to go to for surgery, I was wondering if the POC on here would have any recommendations as to which surgeon to go to?
Right now, I am considering either Garramone or Medalie. But I'd like to hear other people's thoughts before I fully decide. A lot of my friends have gone to Garramone, but I also have a couple of friends who've went to Navin Singh in MD because he is pretty close to us. For a while I was set on Singh, but looking at my friend's results, I'm not sure if I want to go to him because my friend doesn't look completely flat--plus my friend had to pay more in surgery costs, too.
Anyways, any thoughts or advice would be great. Thanks y'all!

Hi,
I considered Singh, but decided not to for the reason you listed - I didn't see any results of his that were completely flat. If you're looking in the DC/Baltimore area, I would recommend Dr. Fischer. I went to her, and love my results. There are also several results on transbucket of hers from POC.
Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion. The only reason I haven't thought about her is that she's quite far and her costs are about 8 grand, just for surgery alone. She might end up being on my list, but right now Garramone is looking to be at the top for me.

Ah gotcha, I figured if Singh was on your list, Fischer was relatively close.
Just remember to factor in travel costs when you're assessing your overall expenses. Garramone was at the top of my list when I first started looking at surgeons, but with his price and what it would have cost me to travel there and stay locally for a week, Fischer actually turned out to be cheaper even though her up front price was more.

I can't send PMs, but is there any way I can reach out to you so I can ask you more questions about what it was like to work with her? It would be greatly appreciated!

Medalie's got a couple of PoC results on transbucket as well, if I recall correctly. I'm pretty light-skinned (to the point that I don't correct anyone who calls me white, because I'm mixed but not mixed "enough" to be able to call myself ndn) so my results when I get 'em won't help you any, but the ones I saw on darker-sinned guys have all been pretty dang good. He's gonna shake some people off because he's changing his practice and isn't taking insurance in the interim but if you're paying out of pocket I'd highly recommend him (though I have no idea about Fischer, so definitely talk to Max a bit if you're interested). He's ~6500$, which is relatively cheap, and looking between him and Garramone, he was the obvious choice for me. Something about Garramone feels... skeevy? in a sort? to me, and I've heard some weird-bad things come out of his recovery patients. (Particularly from people who recovered in the centre he's recommended.) IMO the quality of Garramone's work has declined, like he's rushing a bit because top surgery is all he does these days. But that's just my personal thoughts.
I know Medalie's been a bashed a little for his brisk bedside manner, but he certainly knows what he's talking about and his nipple placements are very near-natal male placement. Since I'm stealth, I'm also really liking that he's lately seemed to change his incisions to give a more diagonal scar, because one of the things that worries me with trans visibility is getting called out on my top scars. (I'm rambling now, I think. TL; DR, I'd recommend Medalie over Garramone any day because personal opinion. Medalie's cheaper than Fischer but will probably have a longer wait time. I haven't looked at many of Fischer's results so I can't say much there.)

Yep, I've seen Medalie's as well and his results look great! I am paying out-of-pocket for surgery. I think my insurance might be able to cover things like the anesthesiologist fee and such, but I'm not counting on it. I've definitely heard that comment about Garramone's quality has declined. Someone also mentioned to me that he does multiple surgeries in one room, which is a little strange. Like, people just being cut up is like a factory or something.
I actually really appreciate the comments on his incisions and nipple placements. Scarring is something I am very concerned about. At the moment, I am looking more into Fischer, though. I'll definitely consider Medalie more than Garramone with this information now. Thanks! Good luck on your surgery day!

Yes - under my picture to the left there should be a few links for ways to contact me. If none of those work, feel free to post here again and I'll put my email address up.
