Hello Holly

Welcome! I wish I could help with the make-up but when I try to use make-up I look a little too much like I belong in the center ring in a circus so I can't give advise but I know that you will find great info. here!

Hello Holly and welcome!

I guess as far as colors, it varies from person to person. It takes time to find your "look" that works for you :-)

Welcome to Susan's, Holly!

I am not a make-up artist but I can tell you what I did and hope that it helps.

I called around until I found a Mary Kay distributor who would come to my home to do a makeover.  I am transsexual, M to F.  It took five calls but I got one.  I did this instead of going to the cosmetics counter of a department store because at home I had my privacy, the other woman's undivided attention, and someone who would be around when I needed product or advice.

There cardinal rule in using makeup is this:  Blend!  Blend!  Blend!  Less is more.

My face has small veins showing in places (I'm 56 so that doesn't bother me) and rosacea in others.

I start with a cleanser, wipe my face with hot water on a washcloth.  I then use the Daytime Solution to clarify my complexion, followed by moisturizer.  I use an under-eye firming creme, lip liner, and lip creme.

I need heavy concealment so I use a concealer on places I don't want to be seen, like the veins.  After blending that I use a base controller, blend that, then apply loose powder all over my face to make a uniform shade and finish.

After that I do my eyes using a sponge applicator, blending the eyelid and eye crease with a brush.  If I use powder eyeliner it's on the lower lid only, about 1/3 of the way from the outside crease to the center of the eye.

I do mascara almost one lash at a time.  If I get any clumps or bridges I remove them with a lash brush, comb, or cotton swab.

I do my lip liner and follow it with a lipstick that fits my mood and won't clash with my makeup or clothing.

I hope this helps, Holly.

Thank You Wing Walker,
I know an avon lady, she lives across the alley from me, wonder if I would scare her off if I asked her to give me a make over?  The only way to find out is to try!!  Thanks again!!!
