"In a move that is sure to bring cheer to anti-transgender activists and the Republican presidential candidates who seek their votes nationwide, the Republican National Committee has approved a resolution endorsing so-called bathroom bills, reports the Washington Blade. "

The American Taliban is at it again.

Here is a nice quote from the article.

""The Republican Party wants to keep government so small it can fit in the bathroom stall with you to check your anatomy. Their hypocrisy and bigotry know no bounds."

From the RNC resolution:

"A person's sex is defined as the physical condition of being male or female, which is determined at conception, identified at birth by a person's anatomy, recorded on their official birth certificate, and can be confirmed by DNA testing."

In other words, the Republican Party says sex is immutable and determined at the moment of conception.

So actually the national Republican Party position appears to go considerably beyond most of the bathroom bills introduced by Republican legislators at the state level.  For instance, the Virginia bill appears to provide for an exception where a trans person has undergone GCS and now has genitals conforming to the person's gender identity.  Under the national policy, even that wouldn't be enough, because you still have the DNA you were born with.

Next step?  To make enforcement of the bathroom regimen easier, everyone will be required to have "M" or "F" tattooed on his/her forehead at birth?

I didn't leave the Republican Party, the Republican Party left me.  To borrow a phrase from somebody famous.

We are going to see a rash of anti trans ballot measures this year across many states. Get your friends to vote!

I have to think that there are some people in the Republican party that don't give a rat's butt about bashing LGBTQ folks. How does one just look the other way at what your colleagues are saying and doing? How cowardly of them. Stop selling your soul to make yourself gain more powerful at the expense of others.
Pardon me will I scream. AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

It's really hard because all they think they see is a pervert. If they would only take the time to find out we are only seeking to live and let live. I know I am not a pervert. If they don't want to live as another sex nobody is taking their rights away even if it is based on a fairy tale. Dang you've unleashed the beast. If anyone on this thread votes for one of these "statesmen" they will be voting against their own interest. Too bad they don't follow God close enough to follow his teachings.

the teachings of the New Testament are quite clear and very simple . Love one another. To twist and pervert My Lords teachings is the sin.

Well it is "double secret"...

What confuses me is that things are presumably in the platform to get votes after having done the math and decided it will help your appeal.  If you don't tell anybody what's in your platform, why should the people who believe in that thing vote for you?  It's like the Russians in Dr. Strangelove building a doomsday weapon and not telling anybody.

Either way, it wasn't over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.

I can't hear "double secret probation" without pretty much the entirety of Animal House playing in my head.

I'm confused. What does "probation" have to do with this?  The word is never used in the body of the article. Is this just another case of a linguistically challenged headline writer, and if so, what on earth do they think "probation" means?

I think they just latched on to the word secret an then used the phrase "double secret probation" to be cute and make a catchy headline.  But you're right,  the word probation is out of place.

For those who didn't see the movie, "Double secret probation" is a line from Animal House. It came to denote a punishment carried out without the knowledge of the party being punished because the punishing party was too craven to announce it publicly.

I just wonder how Caitlyn Jenner rationalizes this in her head.

It's worse than that.  There are a significant number, maybe the majority, of Republicans who truly believe that "what we define as" bashing LGBTQ people makes them righteous before God.

Because . . . We collectively hate God, are evil, and are the reason that God no longer favors America with prosperity and greatness.

I don't think there is a solution to that other than garnering enough people to vote to keep them out of positions of power where their insane delusions can do us and others harm.

Sadly true.  And their infiltration/takeover of the GOP has produced a situation where it gets awfully hard to hold your nose and vote for anything the Republicans might have right.

I'm not surprised at all, I hope the few trans republicans left, including Miss Jenner, will make their mind.

For that matter, how can any woman cis or trans support a party that believes it is okay for men to make more money for the same work. Pardon me while I scratch my head!
