Title: Hair and Eye color
Post by: KarlMars on March 06, 2016, 05:00:28 AM
Is anyone else going to change their hair and eye color with dye and color contacts as well as gender?

My eyes are really green and I like them so no. My hair after I get some restoration in early 2017 may get some low lights in the sides and front. I have light brown in the front and sides and darker brown in the back. So I think matching the brown with low lights on the sides and front a bit would look good. I could lighten the back a bit though.

I colour my hair mainly to cover the gray so I try to get as close to the original colour as I can, I've sometimes thought about experimenting with different colour contacts just for fun but I don't really take that very seriously

I really want to dye my hair a light pink mixed with platinum blond; but can't at the moment :(. I also like the blue colour zayn malik had his hair dyed with. As far as eye colour goes I already have blue eyes which is the colour most people want; so I don't want to change them ;)

I felt like when I started this I sorta gained permission to mess with my hair color too. I also kinda felt a need to change it so that I feel like a diff person; like not seeing old self in mirror type thing ya know, new me new color. I wanted to also tho, had same color whole life, wanted to experiment and change it.

Originally I planned on going blonde cuz always thought that color was pretty and hot and all but went with brown/ carmally color to transition to it; loved the look and color of it tho and have stopped there.

Not messing with eyes tho, feel no need or desire to and don't wear contacts (yet at least!) either.

You're really lucky. Mine are hazel and I want icy blue color contacts. I have tawny hair and want to dye it blonde.

I once thought about going with something darker. Especially since lighter colored hair is associated with femininity and youth.
However being ginger is one of the few unique things going for me and I'm pretty ok with it. So I decided to just run with what my genetics gave me.

My eyes are just brown. More ruddy brown but still just brown. I'd try contacts for fun but I'm very sensitive to putting anything near my eyes. I just have an automatic reaction from past surgeries. So I flinch and blink pretty bad. I probably couldn't do it. Maybe I'll try someday.

Not my eyes but my hair is bothering me.

The last time I saw my real hair color was age 19. I'd been dyeing it crazy colors ever since. It's only this year I decided to grow it out and show my s.o. what color it really is. But it is no longer a natural blond. It used to be, and it is in all my kid pics, but now it's gone brown. If I had to describe it... a sort of... 'brown rat' brown with the vestiges of the original blond transparency still in there when the sun shines on it. I actually can't stand it. Maybe I dont get enough sun on it? Maybe some people's hair color does just get darker with age.

Plus there's some snow-white hairs in there, after last year's hypothyroidism, which caused them to break out all over and for the white half moons in my nails to disappear, too.

So I'll probably dye it lighter again. I've been dyeing for years. I don't care about the dyeing but I don't like what my adult hair color turned out to be. I've always thought of myself as blond and always described myself to others as blond haired and now I'm not. Kind of a nasty shock.  :D

I don't really care for all that eye stuff but I like dyeing my hair sometimes. I don't think I want to do it myself anymore though. The do-it-yourself hair dyes I get have to be cheap so I can afford it on my weak budget. I hate how it stains everything even now when my hair gets wet. I would rather get it professionally dyed. Right now I'm runnin' around with a blue mohawk. Its nice other than the fact that there are patches of yellow on the edges which drive me nuts but no one seems to notice or maybe they're just being polite. And I would have to use lots and lots of bleach to process the dye completely because I have naturally black hair. The darker it is the more bleach you're gonna need for your hair dye to show up clearly.

I have green eyes, and they will likely stay that way.

My hair, however, is naturally black and currently blonde. Once I'm out of school I'm either going green or purple, and probably dyeing it every couple months from then on.

I remember one time I was going to dye my hair purple. This is when I was trying my darnest to live as a woman. But I backed out of it because it costs so much. Yeah, I wanted it professionally dyed. I think it was a total of $100-something. It wasn't just for the dye, it was for getting my hair done too. One of the cool things about being male is that I am not expected to have my hair done extravagantly, until people realize what my assigned sex is then the wrong expectations start getting fired at me. :(

Heh, I buy £3 hair dye from a local shop and pray that I come out of the other side looking somewhat decent!

In my friendship groups (which is made up of almost all LGBT people) a lot of people express themselves through hair dye and makeup - quite a few cis guys I know wear makeup on a daily basis, and a lot of them either dye their hair or did when they were younger.

I'm cool with being seen as a femme guy, because I'm not a butch guy, and definitely not a butch female! :P

I also have strawberry blond hair; so have that going for me. I'm a bit apprehensive of dying my hair one day because I don't want to damage my original hair colour; which I like a lot.

I don't think blonde is feminine. I will most likely have a tawny colored beard like all the men in my family, and dye it blonde to match my head. There are many attractive men who are blonde and delicate, but still handsome. I think of the Vikings, which were not all naturally blonde, but rumor has it they valued blonde hair and often dyed it if they were not naturally blonde. Next time you assume all blonde men are feminine think of Thor.

I did read that many straight men prefer blonde women whether it's fake or not. I'm gay so I'm hoping I'll find enough gay blonde men for buddies.

As for contacts. I've never tried them. I hope I'll be able to wear them. I have perfect vision so I'll have to have them specially made.

Oh no, I don't think its anything wrong with guys wearing make-up. In my avatar, I used mascara to make my cheesy, five-o-clock looking beard. In fact, I even think about wearing eye liner sometimes like rock stars do. I'm not really femme though but I ain't macho man either. I am somewhere in between that. I don't know what the hell I am.

I guess what I was saying is that society in general does not expect men to go to the beauty salon and have their hair done like women. I wasn't saying that I think men shouldn't or can't. I meant society.

And yes I too would much rather be seen as a femme guy than a butch girl.

I'll be a butch guy with an emotional side. I can't wait to have more time to work out even long before I'll start T.

I have blue eyes and don't really mind them too much. My real hair started going pretty white/silver early on, which is normal in my family and I also have some thinning, so I am wearing wigs mostly. Just playing with reds and browns, but my natural color before it went white was actually blond. If my hair starts to grow back or I eventually get a transplant, I'll play with my color all the time cause I am a hairstylist :)

You pass very well, miss. I couldn't tell it was a wig.

Oddly enough, I played around with my hair color a lot more when I was trying to live as my birth gender. I've since been doing a lot of research on what it takes to pass as a man and, mostly through my own observation, I've noticed that the people that are normally viewed as those who dye their hair are women. That's not to say that men don't dye their hair, because they certainly do, but I get the sense that this sort of thing - in general society, at least - is subconsciously viewed as a somewhat feminine thing. Because of that, even though I'm not terribly fond of my natural hair color, I've grown it out and have no plans on resuming my dyeing days. Of course, my taste in mens' fashion is very old-fashioned, and certainly no men dyed their hair back then, so that may contribute to it as well.

That being said, I've always wanted the bright red hair of my mother and all my brothers. I was the only one of us that got stuck with boring dark brown.

That's very interesting that you like vintage style clothing? I like the early 1900s clothing and military hair styles. What time period are you interested in? Where are you from?

I'm mostly fond of late 1800's style, some early 1900's. Luckily men's fashion doesn't age as fast as women's, so most of what they wore back then is still acceptable nowadays to a point. Waistcoats are my secret weapon for hiding what my binder can't flatten enough. I am slightly into Steampunk, but not as flashy, not so many gadgets. Military hairstyles are nice, but I'm more fond of the classic side-part, your basic Madmen hair style.

I grew up in Florida, but I really don't fit in down here. I currently have plans to move up to Vermont in the next few years.

The undercut from the early 1900s that was really short on the non shaved side and slicked down flat was what I like the most. All my clothes are military style, and cargo shorts and pants. I love zippers, pockets, epaulettes, buttons.

Do you like any militaria?

I do have a small interest in it, yes. I adore military uniforms from countries around the world, particularly older ones. I do rather like that particular aesthetic. I wouldn't call myself a collector or an enthusiast at all, but it is on my long list of interests.
