Title: 1st Therapy appointment
Post by: Karlie Ann on March 16, 2016, 03:51:28 PM
So tomorrow I have my first therapy appointment.  I'm excited and terrified at the same time!

I've seen therapists before, but they were all trying to "cure" me of my transsexuality (with my help).  This is the first time I'll see a therapist about moving forward with transition.   I've read about how to make sure it's a good councilor. I'm in the US, also. What should I talk about?  What do I do?  Any hints or suggestions?

Just relax, be yourself and enjoy it. My first session was awesome

Tell the truth about your past feelings and what you want for the future. Any therapist who has had some experience will see the transgender side of you. It will then become a process of cleaning up any remaining personal issues and moving you forward. A good therapist is not to be feared as they are there to help you make your transition as successful as possible.

Remember to relax and breath.

Be yourself and explain why you are there.
