Hi, so on the lighter side of everything...
This is something that I've been pretty curious about since I started questioning, but do musical interests change a lot in people's transition?  I've heard a lot of things go up in the air, especially with HRT, but I've never really heard anything about music.

Not that it matters, I'm gonna roll with what makes me happy, but I'm just super curious what those who have gone through have noticed.

I hope I never stop liking Iron Maiden... or my nice girly bands ;D

My tastes in music were and remain quite eclectic. It has mellowed over the years but I think that has more to do with age than gender.

Like Ms Grace, it was time that changed my musical tastes. I'm interested in the same music that I was before. I've just dug out the weeds over time.

For me, it has, I hear the militant rap less, and the general disparaging songs about women less. I mean my emotional panorama, has changed, along with bodily changes. I'm definitely less aggressive then pre hrt 3 years 3 months ago, more of a pacifist(and not a pass-a-fist, lol), what I would say pre-hrt. I love trance music, always have, lots of melody, but more so now, takes me to a happy place(ie.I"m way more emotional now, I even take days off work just because I'm frazzled by other women at work  :-\ , it never ever ever happened pre hrt).

Nope. They didn't change at all.

I am currently pre-T but out to everyone I know except my family. Since my friends have been calling me by male pronouns and I've discovered who I really am, my whole perspective has changed and I feel like I can do everything I ever wanted to do or like. I always had this image of a guy with long hair in a leather jacket listening to metal music. And for all my life without knowing, I tried to look like a metalhead dude but it never worked out because of obvious reasons.

Now that I know someday I will look the way I want, I feel like I am interested in the things I always wanted to fit into (new music, motorcycles, etc).

IMO I believe that once you discover and accept yourself, you know that finally someday you will be the person you always wanted to be and so as a result, you get into all this music and activities that never seemed to fit right with your birth gender. ?

I will never like Britney Spears! Eva Eva! ;D

I just recently started to dig Taylor Swift songs a lot, like, a part of me relates to her peppy idealistic yuppie look, and I'm far from it, lol.

As a music major I can say no, probably not.  It's possible that after/during transition we just get happier and more open to different music that we might have ignored before, the music we listen to can definitely change and sway depending on moods after all.  But I definitely don't think it can force any kind of change.

Ha, I thought I'd check to be honest with myself, and yeah still, don't want none of that britney spears.  I suppose should give Taylor Swift a chance too though...

How fitting, embracing your freedom and strength to be part of a group as free as metalhead bikers :)

Pre-HRT if it wasn't dark and/or angry it made me pretty uncomfortable, for the most part. Now I tend to avoid the dark and angry music, unless I'm feeling emo. Even then it can be a bit different. Now it's more Razorblade Suitcase and less Ride the Lightning, but they'll both always exist in my music library. Dig?

Did my music tastes change - NO.  BUT what did change is I'm now honest with myself.  For 45 years I've been lying to myself and deceiving those around me about myself but now I'm to the point of "I don't give a ... hoot" what people really think, I'm being myself.  So my expressed music choices have caught up with society and not stuck in the 70's and 80's.  I used to listen to the 70's and 80's stations in the car, but I've switched to the newer stuff.  I actually like most of it and honestly probably always did, but didn't want to show it.

Well I can say that as a boy I secretly kind of liked Beyoncé and Madonna, but as a woman those interests have kind of shown since liking those bands would have made gotten me made fun of by family and friends as a boy.

Mine didn't change, but they broadened. I was always a kind of underground music person, so I rarely listened to the radio. I've been using the radio more lately to help train my voice though and since then I've found I actually do like a lot of the music on there. I'd still prefer to listen to my old favorites in the car, but none of the kids can stand it, so it's kind of nice to actually like their music too for those long rides.
