Title: 4 weeks on T and no changes what so ever?
Post by: Enaree on March 30, 2016, 05:42:19 PM
This is really frustrating honestly. I'm in androgel which I put on every morning after a shower. I think it's the 1.62 kind, with 20.25mg of t per pump on each shoulder. And for the first few days I thought I hear a change in my voice, but then I had a situation where I had to make my voice like it was pre-t cause I was with someone who didn't know I was transitioning almost the whole day. Ever since then I feel like my voice has gone back to where it was pre-t, like I lost any coming changes. No body hair, no growth downstairs that I've noticed. Nothing. I fear that I won't have any significant changes ever at this rate.. Usually by this time other ftm have had body hair, voice changes, face changes, SOMETHING. But not me. Is this even normal???

As much as we all hate hearing it, and I mean I REALLY hated it. Some people are just different than others. You can't really compare your hormone journey to others, since we're all different. I'd say work on lowering your voice by force if it's bothering you a lot. I promise you your voice will be so low & you will be so hairy in the coming months that this will make you laugh when you look back on it. good luck!

i didn't see any REAL changes until 3 MONTHS on T. i'm on injections though, but still. the first noticeable change for me was my period stopped. usually people see lower growth first but i didn't really see that. it takes time, honestly, patience.

I've read many different opinions on gel vs injections. My psychologist tells me that for starting T, injections are definitely faster with changes. But I've also read some places that it really doesn't matter. I don't know. But 1 month isn't that abnormal I guess, though most people who I've read/watched they experienced increased sex drive increase almost instantly and growth downstairs within a week. It is different for everyone though.

There is no difference between the two when the dosing is the same.

Everyone experiences things differently, so I say not seeing much in that span of time seems normal.

Changes happen at different rates for different people, just like puberty. I've been on  T for about 3.5 years or so (a little more I think) and my voice is still changing and my facial hair is still coming in.

I know that four weeks seems like FOREVER right now, and the last thing you want to hear are the words "be patient"--those actually irritated the bejeezus out of me when I was at four weeks!--but in the end that's kind of what you have to be.  My changes haven't come as quickly as I had hoped, but at 5 months I am finally starting to see enough that I pass maybe 60% of the time.  By four weeks I had seen some bottom growth, but that was about all the change I had seen.  It will come, but it takes time... I know that it is SUPER hard to wait, though.  I'm really sorry that the changes aren't coming faster, but don't lose hope.

Ok I should of worded things better. No good changes have happened. The WORST possible change came almost immediately which was hair loss. I hate it so much I'm considering stopping t because of it. I might just not get my next refill.

Might just be thinning and not actual hair loss. I'd be patient and wait a month or so; then if it gets worse maybe taking something for it.
In regards to not having any changes 4 weeks on T I was the same way. My voice sounded slightly deeper but then seemed to backtrack and sound squeaky again. Plus I still had the loud buzz of dysphoria in my brain. I noticed very slight change 3 months on T and my voice was finally sounding masculine. Now 5 months on T my voice has seemed to have settled down into an even male pitch and I can see I'm starting to look masculine. Plus my dysphoria has almost gone. I hated the waiting and looking in the mirror and seeing nothing new but the wait is so worth it.
Btw; I'm also on gel and it's a myth that it works less well than injections. My doctor who specialises in gender care doesn't even prescribe Sustanon anymore. As he said even with injecting T the hormones take time to reach your bloodstream so gel is the same.
