Voted for preferred. I was terrified of doing so last year when I was still properly coming out socially, but now I don't think twice about it. Just seems natural.

Always used F since presenting as female. Though it wasn't really a big deal back then and even now I'm not in America so it doesn't seem much of a thing here in Australia.

Preferred. Always.
Early in transition when my passability was still up in the air I tended to just avoid public bathrooms all together, and just used the men's at work since I was still legally "male" to everyone. But as soon as I started getting called "she" by most strangers and unofficially went full-time after getting fired, I immediately switched to the women's, never looked back, and haven't had a single problem since.

I've move to 100% preferred in the last year. The locker room recently changed for me also. So far, that potentially touchy situation has been totally a non-event.

it's pretty funny when I use the male bathroom because usually I pull my hat down over my head and hurry passed who's waiting in line because they usually stare at me or say the the woman's room is over there. I just say screw it I got to go I got to go unless it's a multiple men's room then I'll use the woman's.

eventually i think everyone will just use the same bathroom and we'll stop arbitrarily dividing people by what their genitals look like. unfortunately our society objectifies and dehumanizes us (cis and trans), so women have to have our own restrooms to protect us from assault. there's not much of a choice, i use the women's room.

Before I got my license changed, I used the family bathroom at service plazas, but the Ladies almost everywhere else. Service Plazas tend to be very busy with a lot of people and the family restrooms were the safer option early in my transition. Once I came out at work, I began using the Ladies there. Before that, I would go to the other side of the building and use the Ladies or quickly use the Mens on our side of the building. Now that my license says Female, I just use the Ladies everywhere.
I have only had an issue once. Shortly after I went full time, I was told I could not use the Ladies room at a Wendy's because "It made another customer uncomfortable." Now, the interesting part is that there was one other customer in there when I went in and she was in a stall. I went into the stall and never said a word and made sure (as always) that nothing was visible. There was no way she could have known I was trans*. I suspect either a certain man who knew me pre-transition and happened to be eating there that day said something or one of the employees just made up the part about someone complaining. Needless to say, I have not been back since and avoid any Wendy's when possible as I have been repeatedly misgendered at other Wendy's in addition to that humiliating incident.

I avoided public restrooms as well early on. When I first started Spiro if I went out I avoided drinking anything when I went so as not to have to use a restroom. This had some consequences for my health, I passed out one evening from dehydration my blood pressure was extremely low 60/40. I ended up in the ER where they gave me an IV to get my fluid levels back up. I also think that this avoidance of drinking and use of public restrooms led to the development of a kidney stone. Never had one before and I sure do not want another one, very painful till I passed it. Have been using preferred since then.

I have adjusted the poll to allow those. like myself, where the birth certificate does match the preferred, but see no need in using gender neutral bathrooms. Hugs

As I am a woman, I use the women toilets. If all the womens stalls are full I will try the families/disabilities toilets but unless I am absolutely desperate I won't go near the men's toilets.

When in public I avoid bathrooms like the plague due to unrelated germ fears that I suffer from. However in college I do use public bathrooms there.
This was discussed with me (among other things) by some of the lecturers when I first began the course. I mostly use the disabled toilets to avoid any drama.
It also helps with my germ fear so that solves two problems in one I guess. ^-^

I am legally female. I use the female restroom. My birth certificate does not align. Guess I won't be using the restroom in NC. Guess NC won't see a dime of my money.

Restrooms tend to be situational for me (Depends on the situation at hand) But generally I avoid public restrooms and will wait until I get home (Preferred) when possible

I used Ladies rooms in NC last week, after the law went into effect. No one blinked. No pottycops on patrol.
The law is aimed at schools and state government buildings. Use the restroom that matches your presentation.

When I first started going out dressed, I avoided the bathroom. My excursions were limited by my bladder and the distance to a safe bathroom.
When I found the courage to use the women's I was really frightened and over time, it is now as natural as breathing. I don't even think a thing about it now, especially since all my documents have been changed should I be challenged.
Use the men's? No way, too darned dangerous when dressed as a woman.
Love,
Clare
