Title: Anybody else prefer the ole sock in the pants?
Post by: FtMitch on April 03, 2016, 11:20:52 AM
So I have tried a variety of packers... From basics like Mr. Limpy to 4 in 1 devices, and I am finding that, in the end, I just prefer the ease of sticking a sock in my pants.  There is just something to be said for being able to pull it out and toss it aside if it is irritating you and for the simplicity of being able to grab another one easily if needed.  I just find packers to be such a hassle, and socks are so easy!  Anyone else like socks or am I just a weirdo?

I liked socks until I found the right packer coupled with the right harness. It was really the harness that made the difference. It just felt much more correct.

Max, is there a thread about packing harnesses? Never found anything that worked for me.

To Mitch, never been a fan of the sock, honestly. Psychologically, it's just a wadded up piece of laundry in my pants and I'm always afraid it's going to take a ride down my leg to my feet. I also don't give a rat's patootie about having a visible bulge. Wearing a prosthetic makes me feel good, though. I'd prefer nobody knew I was wearing it.

I hope I get enough growth that I feel like I don't need it. Who knows? (shrug)

Umm. I can't think of one in recent memory, but that doesn't mean one doesn't exist. I use this one:

I'm not sure how their other harnesses run size-wise, but mine is a little snug and I think that helps things to sit exactly where they should. I think it's something you have to play around with a bit.

Also, I'm not sure there is a legitimate difference in where they're measuring to place the hole, but I've found that both strap-on harnesses I previously owned had the O-ring hole higher up than it should be for packing purposes. Theirs were directly over the pubic bone, while a packer should be situated in front of your anatomy. So if you've tried packing with traditional strap-on harnesses that are used for sex, that may be the issue you're running into.

I've been doing the sock thing too. To keep it anchored i safety pin it, and if i feel like i might accidentally open the safety pin (somehow???) I put a bit of masking tape round it.

In terms of 'realness', i don't feel that a lump of silicone is going to feel more real to me than a wad of cotton - although i find the idea of STPs really appealing, they're just so expensive. I like that socks just look like a sock so if i've got a drawer full of them no one will notice. Also, they're machine washable, and skin friendly cotton...

I keep thinking about making a cotton packer that's a bit more penis shaped and has elastic attached so i don't have to safety pin it. Eventually i'll get around to it... i guess it'll be like a plushie bulge? Is that weird? lol

Or like something that costs me no money and doesn't have 'hypoallergenic' polyester... that I'm allergic to... in it P: lol

if i can find some elastic I'll also stitch the harness right into it so i don't need to get one of those too

Huh, that looks sort of like underwear. I get kind of dysphoric about harnesses.

I used to shove a prosthetic in my underwear and that helped a lot, but then I found out you're not supposed to do that. I'm experimenting with the front panels of briefs right now. Jury is still out.

The more elaborate the equipment to buy/use to supposedly help with this bottom dysphoria problem, the more stressed out I get.

Mine has veins and details and stuff. Back in the stone age when I bought it they had lots of colors available so you could more closely match your skin color. I know it seems crazy but it really used to help me psychologically to know that it was there ... even when I stuck it in my pocket instead.

I never called it anything other than a prosthetic. I used to imagine it was like I had had an amputation. At some point I had read about intersex people having their genitals cut off and I seized on that, I guess because it was the only way I could even explain to myself what I was feeling.

Yeah I've seen some insanely realistic ones! Freckles and everything! But they're sooooo expensive :C
The main thing that would encourage me to buy a prosthetic is STPs, you can't pee through a sock

It's basically a jockstrap with a specifically shaped "jock" for packing. I wear boxer briefs over top of it for extra security. I tried just letting the packer free-float in my underwear, and it was never ideal. Always felt like I was adjusting it way too often. This is a perfect setup in my mind though. I've been wearing mine 24/7 (including at least one daily shower, usually two), and it's held up great for almost a year now.

It's not weird! I catch myself running to the rolled socks/ties before actually going to a packer. Especially when it comes to traveling, as it won't be embarrassing if someone just finds a sock in your case as opposed to finding something realistically phallic. However, I can see how actual packers make people more comfortable.
