Title: Is day dreaming helpful, or a hindrance?

I often do this, and while it lifts me up a bit, I do find that I spend a little too much time in my own head, and I forget that what I'm dreaming about might not yet be in arms reach. That might be painful at times, depressing even.
Do you find that day dreaming can be helpful, maybe for productivity, maybe for your overall well-being, or can it be a hindrance to your quality of life?

If you use the phrase: "Positive Visualization" does it change how you think about the question? ;)

I do alot of this as well. I prefer it to the negative thoughts that I tend to dwell on sometimes and the worst case scenarios. I would say the more positive you keep your thoughts, the better. Of course there will always be the naysayers and the contradictory statements thrown your way, but those are merely just the level of perception from those people.

I have no clue. My day dreams have only a root of connection to reality, today I was thinking of "Searching for Ursula". As in, if I find Ursula I can change my body instantly.
And I have Miss Scarlet moments too..were she drinks and put her problems off tomorrow. If someone were to analyze my head its like a cinematic brainfart.
And don"t get started on my fascination of vampires, witches, becoming a succubus and luring men to their sexual doom (Like Tamara, Jennifer Body, Spellbinder (1988).
....
And I have negative moments in my daydream in were I relate to the pains of Ariel, the death of Juliet, Rose letting go Jack... Those are good for a good cry.
I do know most of my daydreams arent realistic though...
And they dont hurt me any.
