Title: Homosexual aversion treatment, historical.
Post by: spacial on April 08, 2016, 02:54:29 AM
An article has appeared in the UK press saying what so many of my generation already knew.

QuoteWhilst the majority were enduring chemical aversion therapy, the absence of protocols or medical guidelines for such treatment meant that in some cases homosexual and transsexual men were given electrical shock treatment in the most appalling of circumstances. Refused water and being forced to lie in their own vomit and faeces as matter of course,............

None of that happened to me or others in the unit I was in, as far as I know, but we were systematically humiliated, beaten and threatened.

Anyway. in the past now, but important not to forget how far we've all come.

Not far enough by a long way. We each deserve absolute equality and respect.

So true.

My parents were instructed to allow me to dress as me and then insult and humiliate me so that I would prefer to be a boy.

We have moved mountains!!

Lovely to see you again my friend.

Thank you, and it's wonderful to see the great work you are doing in this brilliant site.

Your experience is equally important, emphasising as it does negative reinforcement, while mine, in a clinical setting, aimed at, though didn't achieve, a positive reinforcement.

Both of course failed and that is another important lesson which we can take from these historical reports.

A post in another thread urges us to "play by the rules" of the medical establishment.

This is a historical reminder of just what sort of rules the medical establishment comes up with if we do not challenge them.
