Title: Coming Out
Post by: Rin-likes-rain on April 08, 2016, 12:02:47 PM
I came out to my mother last night. I knew she wouldnt understand what non-binary means, so I just told her Im trans. Which is true. I told her I am attracted to women and those inside a feminine body. She doesn't believe Im really trans, but she doesnt think anybody is actually trans. But she said that she wants me to be happy. Considering that my parents are VERY anti-trans/anti-lgbt, I'd say it went well

Here is a resource that might help understand:
http://www.gires.org.uk/assets/DOH-Assets/pdf/doh-transgender-experiences.pdf

Its by a reputable source...
and maybe you can say something like you feel in between .. or alternating between poles ...
whatever you feel describes it better ...

Congratulations and its good they accept  :)
Well done  :)

*hugs*

Hey, acceptance, even grudging acceptance is a good sign! Congrats!

If you run into any anti-trans or anti-LGBT diatribe from them, remind them they're hurting you with the vitriol. But give them a year of adjustment before you mandate your visitation based on their good behavior.

Sounds good.  Its a long process of acceptance and understanding and communication.
