Title: Did anyone in the UK (NHS) manage to get a bridging prescription for HRT?

I've read that it's a possibility under the guidelines, but I also heard that it rarely actually happens. But if it's a possibility, it's worth trying right?
atm it's looking like it'll be a year and a half at best until I get referred for HRT through a GIC - that's not including the bloodwork time etc. I'm hoping that I can get my GP to prescribe HRT before then - even a few months less wait would be good. I've already met with a psych twice after my GP referred me to them. Has anyone managed to get a bridging prescription before they had their first GIC meeting? Would those two psych appointments count in my favour?
I'm not able to go private at all at the moment so this is an NHS GP

Update: I spoke to my GP again today and they said they're happy to prescribe T if the GIC can give them a go ahead that it's safe to do so. They contacted the GIC asking about the specific procedure/ dosage etc, and we're waiting to hear back, but the GP seems optimistic as they've asked me to come back and do a blood test. I'm really surprised (and glad) at how supportive my GP is being, even just being willing to take the time to try is more than i expected. :)
I was wondering if anyone has an idea what the GIC (NHS Scotland) is likely to respond with though...

Hi Peep,
You're right that there's provision in the guidelines and equally right that few of them seem to adhere to that.
I managed to meet them at a halfway house. I was self-prescribing and went to my GP, who wanted to help. Following blood tests, between my GP and my GiC therapist they were prepared to discuss my regime without actually prescribing them. So I still bought the meds myself, but at least I was monitored.
However, I certainly don't want to advocate self-med. The reason I went to my GP is that the wrong self-med regime nearly killed me.

Yeah my GP actually asked if i was already self medicating, i was just like... can you hear how high my voice is? why do you think i'm here?? lol
also i don't even think i could afford black market hormones!
They took some blood on Monday (because I'm #dramatic it took 45 minutes to get a needle in me which doesn't bode well but whatever), but i haven't heard back and probably won't for a month or so. also haven't heard anything back from the GIC. I need to research what most UK GICs responses would be to a request for advice from a GP...
