Title: Buying equipment
Post by: Mason on April 23, 2016, 12:17:44 AM
So, I'm sure I probably could've went through all of these posts and read everyone's reviews and opinions but I thought it may be easier to just ask.

I'm looking to purchase items for packing, STP and play and wanted to get some input from others.

Are the 3 in 1 devices generally pretty good? Like Peecock, or should I just go for each piece separately? I'll give you a little info about me. I'm about 1 year on HRT, pre- surgery (looking at August for top surgery).

Right now I just use a pair of rolled up socks to pack. But like the idea of having something more realistic.

I've heard other trans guys say they can pee standing up (without a STP) but that doesn't seem to be happening for me anytime soon so I would really like to be able to do that. I was at a bar a few months ago and in line for the mens room and only one of three stalls had a door so I had to wait until that stall was empty. It sucked. Is this something that may happen eventually without a device? If so, how long into HRT did it happen (if you remember).

As for play, this is something I've always had trouble finding any quality with. They;re either not realistic looking, feeling or kind of flimsy and have to be used so carefully that it screws up the really intense moments if you know what I mean.

So thoughts...is the 3-1 good or do you guys buy seperate? Any recommendations? Thanks, I don;t ant to waste money on something that won't work. It's ridiculous how expensive some of these things are!!

Welcome to Susan's Place. Your thread is posted in the correct location and I suspect the guys will be around tomorrow with some good advice for you. They often discuss devices of interest and they have posted a number of reviews about various products they have tested or used. I am not knowledgable enough to assist you in this area but if there is anything else I can help you with, let me know.

We issue to all new members the following links so you will best be able to use the web site.

Mason,

Great to have other new members. I sadly, cannot give you any advice. However, as Dena suggested, there is a pretty strong group that discusses gear here.

Good luck. I hope you find what you are looking for and welcome again.

With warmth,

Joanna

Howdy friend!

Some of the 3 in 1 products do work for some guys. I guess it would all depend on experimenting with things, that's what we all had to do :). All of my parts of separate..

STP- EZP Transthetics is the only STP device that worked for me. It works very well and the packing isn't too bad. I use this if I am driving somewhere kind of far and may need to stop a rest area.

Packing- Reelmagik Basic Packer. I use this when I'm working near home or just running out to the store.

Play- I have nothing, haven't had a girlfriend in about 5-6 years, haven't even dated anyone since my transition but I plan on getting a Reelmagik or Emisil when that time comes ;).

Speaking personally, I haven't found a 3 in 1 device that works for all of my needs at once. I have yet to find something that is great to pack with that I can also pee with. The STP aspect is what most guys tend to have issues with - I do not recommend getting an expensive one until you know what will and won't work with your anatomy or what style of STP is a good fit for you.

I have a Peecock Gen3. Great for packing, looks good, good for sex, can't pee out of it. I just can't form a good enough seal with it to prevent leaks.

I have a Number One STP. Can't pack well with it, not really a stand-alone packing device so far as I can tell, no option to use it for sex, but I can definitely pee out of it.

I have a few different Mr. Limpy's. Two for packing (I rotate), and one that I've made into an STP with parts that I know work for me. Packs great, looks so-so, can't have sex with it, but I can pee out of it.

I think everybody does a bit of experimentation before they find what works best and what they need out of it. I just don't think it's a good idea to jump into the high end market blindly.

Practice and repetition, same as for any habit, can help with using any STP you choose. Different people have different styles which work well for them. The only way to know what works is to try it.
