Retailers are weighing in on the question of transgender rights as momentum builds against Target, whose stance on which bathroom transgender customers and employees can use in stores has sparked major backlash from customers who say they're going to stop shopping there.

I know Starbucks has always been a good place for me. Even when i was presenting myself as androgynous or somewhat fem, I always felt welcome. I think many of them just maintain two single use, unisex restrooms.

Two things tickle me pink about this:
1) The topic of transgendered individuals wasn't even a blip on anyone's radar six months ago, one year ago or five years ago -- it wasn't until the media and hateful bigots pushed their agenda and fear into the minds of people around the world that this gained national attention. Otherwise, nobody was even tuned into this.
2) These mega corporations, such as Target and Starbucks, are in such a pivotal position to bring about change that they have more backing than they know what to do with. Do these boycotting customers truly think their once-a-year purchase will sink these ships?
Me thinks not.
