Title: OMG I've become one of THOSE people

One of the problems with prejudices is when they come back to bite you on the backside once you become the very sort of person you had an "issue" with in the first place.
I wouldn't say it was a "prejudice" as such, just an attitude. Many years ago, when I started using forums - not trans, just hobby, tech support or lifestyle - I'd always notice that there were one or two members on those boards who had well over ten thousand posts and I'd snort to myself, "get a life why don't you?"
Now that is me!!
:D :D :D :'( :'( :'( :embarrassed: :embarrassed: :embarrassed:
Sucked in, me; get a life why don't you!
oh well... lesson learned!! I realise now those people no doubt had as many posts as they did because they either enjoyed their time with the community and/or they felt they contributed something of worth.
When I first signed up to Susan's I don't think I even expected I'd be around for more than 100 or so posts. Yet here I (still) am! The community is, for the most part, always changing - people coming and going with a few stalwarts here to shore up the feeling of continuity (you know who you are!! :D ) - but I do enjoy this community and the support and friendship it provides. And, in the little ego parade that is my mind, I presume I do contribute something of worth some of the time! ;D
So yeah, I've become one of THOSE people!
For those of you who are just starting out on the forum, I know it can seem daunting when you see huge post counts amassed by some members. Just join in with the conversations and the games and before you know it...
I understand why if you can't, but I do hope you stick around and continue to be part of the community!

I wasn't concerned about a high post count but I still have a few weeks until I have been here a year and my post count will cross 5,000. In addition I have spent over 130 DAYS worth of time on the site. If anybody needs to get a life or at least do some house cleaning, it's me.
I attend family gatherings but the TV may not be turned on for months. Sometimes I even have to remember how I have the controls set up. There are worst things I could be doing with my life but I just enjoy helping others.

It happens Ms. Grace. I tried to not pay attention to much to the post counts before becoming a moderator, but sometimes it is hard not to. For new people it can be intimidating and a challenge at first until they become comfortable. We try to do what we can to share the wisdom of our experiences in order help everyone else with the situations they are going hrough in life and with their transitions too. Hugs

I don't care what your count is. I appreciate what you write (the three posters above me here). I have found that being on Susan's and sometimes posting helps me keep a lid on my dysphoria. Others, like you, encourage me. I try to return the favor if it is possible. I think everyone here has something to offer.

Yes!!! Now I can formally include you in "you people." ;)
Thanks for all your hard work, Ms Grace. You're an asset to the community. I mean, you're an asset to you people. Mmmmeh. I don't think I did that right. I'll keep trying.

All of you mods and people with high post counts are the reason the rest of us find Susan's a helpful place to come to. You set the tone; you share your experiences; you help newcomers. A big thank you to all "those people".

I think it's safe to say that forums like this are heavily influenced by the members themselves, and it must follow that the members who are most 'vocal' and prolific have more influence on the tone. it's good to have you kicking around Senator Grace, and don't abuse your privilege ;D
Huzzahhh! for 'those people', without you these threads would never make a comfy jacket ;)
