Title: What does Testosterone do to your hair?

I've heard about hair loss and hair line changes. What does the hair loss depend on like does it depend on how your dad's hair loss was like or your grandfather on your moms side, ect? What does it do to your hair line? Like how does it make your hair line look? Also what else does Testosterone do to your hair?
Thanks
Thanks

Speaking from the other side, testosterone did nothing to my hair. I had lots of T with a full head of hair and sparse body hair. So I think it's mostly genetic with the genetic switch being the T.

I've heard it depends on your mother's side if her family when it comes to hair loss; although I don't know the specifics (I'd rather not think about it). As for your hairline it'll look a lot squarer plus of course you should be able to grow sideburns. Your hair may also become thinner and start eeceding; but thar may not leave you looking bald. Your hair will also become thicker and coarser. Plus T usually makes you feel hotter and sweatier; which will make your hair become greaser quicker.
I've also heard your hair colour can darken; but don't know how true that is.

The mother's side theory only works if you have XY chromosomes... from everything I've read about hair loss it's genetic, but still very difficult to predict. I think almost everyone gets at least a little bit of receding at the sides - amab people tend to have less round hairlines than afab people

As with anything with genetics, it really is a guessing game. Especially since most ftm have XX chromosomes, it becomes very difficult to predict. My younger brother lost a ton of hair early and continues to get more and more bald. I'm 2.5 years on T and I have noticed minor thinning and my hairline has receded at the temples. I actually prefer my new hairline because it is much more masculine as compared to my old hairline. I was worried about going bald (especially because my brother). And I'm only 32 now so there is plenty of time for me to go bald yet but I'm not as worried about it as I was initially. The thinning and hair loss mostly happened in the first 8 months and has stayed pretty stable since then.
Long story short - your hair will end up looking how it would have if you had been born producing your own higher levels of testosterone.

When your hairline recedes, it makes your forehead look bigger. I already had a pretty big forehead, so there was nowhere really for it to go. It has kind of squared off, and my sideburns grew in more and connected with my chin hair. Aside from that, no changes whatsoever. Grows about the same speed, feels the same texturally, looks the same.

So my hairline has receded; my forehead is definitely bigger. Thankfully I have no balding happening, nor any baldness in my family. I don't know whether its T or biotin supplements that I take but my hair grows F A S T these days.

Was anyone totally not hairy before T and really hairy after? I have almost no armpit hair - like ten hairs - (pre T) and I kind of wish I had some

My hair got a little thinner and it got darker as well. Still don't have much body hair on my chest or stomach. Arm pits and legs grew out a lot and got darker. Facial hair has gone from nothing to a patchy goatee. It's still in a process of connecting together and forming a beard but you can see it. I probably see changes in my facial hair every few weeks.

Pre hrt my hair was more corse and greasy. Those two states, plus mpb led me to shave it once a month. I'm trans feminine just to be clear...
