Title: Question about Dr. Rumer?

Hi! So I schedule top surgery with Dr. Rumer for June 16th (!!) and I have my pre-op appointment this week. When I met with Dr. Bartlett, he broke down his fee into three parts: the hospital fee, his surgical fee, and the cosmetic fee. The cosmetic fee included lipo to make the chest look natural, preventing dog ears, etc.
When Dr. Rumer gave me her fee, it was just hospital fees and her surgical fee. I asked her office if she had a cosmetic fee, and they asked me where I wanted lipo, so I'm assuming we aren't on the same page. When I tried to explain what I meant a few more times, they still didn't get it, and said that they would ask Dr. Rumer, but I never heard back.
That being said, has anyone gone to Dr. Rumer? If so, is the price she gave you (around 7k) the price that you paid? I just don't want to go in and get surprised with a cosmetic fee that I wasn't expecting.

Welcome to Susan's Place. I don't have that information but this post is were it will be seen and if somebody has had experience with either doctor, you should get a response. As it's late in the United State where the doctor would most likely have patients, you should check in tomorrow evening and see if you received responses.

They don't work for the same practice, right? Two separate surgeons that you consulted with? They're obviously going to have different fees.
If you're a bigger guy, I could see an extra fee because you'll need extra liposuction to remove the extra tissue and make things look right. But if the surgeon you're going to didn't say anything about it, I wouldn't worry about it. If you want some kind of contouring done, just make sure you and Dr. Rumer are on the same page about it. Most top surgery procedures include some amount of liposuction to the chest, but if you wanted your hips done at the same time, that would be extra. I think Dr. Bartlett should be a little more careful with his wording.

Right, that's what I thought! I don't want any type of contouring, so I just hoped that it was standard. If I hadn't asked about it, then would I have left surgery with a lumpy chest? It's all super vague. Hopefully I'll get it cleared up during my pre-op on Thursday.

Hi, Moni! Thanks so much for reaching out to me. I can't send/reply to personal messages yet, but I've definitely shared the same experience with her office that you have. We also have the same pre-op appointment day :)

No, no. They will do their best to get you as flat and male-contoured as possible given your body. If you don't have any pectoral muscle built up, you will probably end up flat, but that's better than what you've got now I'm assuming :)
Most surgeons that I've spoken with regarding top surgery also have a 1 year rule as far as revisions - if you are dissatisfied within the first year with your results, you can come back and have the issue fixed at a lower rate (usually just a percentage of their surgical fee). I don't think I've seen anybody come out "lumpy", but dog ears are a risk if you're bigger. Easily corrected at a smaller second procedure.

I had double Incision with Rumer 2 years ago and yes $7000 flat was all I paid. That included 4 follow up visits. I love Rumer and her staff. Her office is beautiful. The surgery center she contracts with was awesome.

She doesn't have results on her site, but I've seen some results on transbucket and tumblr. When I had my consult, she gave me four or five pictures of really great results

Being legally blind photos aren't too much good for me.
