What the title says :p

So I had my orchie done a little less than two months ago, and was considering the possibility of a penectomy.

I'm curious whether having a penectomy rules out the possibility of GRS? I know the scrotal tissue is valuable for an eventual vaginoplasty, but I wasn't sure how important the penile tissue is?

I've never heard of anyone trying for that, but I think you'd never be able to get an decent grs result after a penectomy. The other issue is that the technique used for grs would be experimental, you'd likely be the first person to have it, and quality would again suffer.

Some surgeons, like Suporn, won't even do grs after an orchi (depending how the orch is done).

That's what I feared.

Ah well, I suppose it is better to just wait and get GRS then.

I was hoping to be rid of all my male parts while I saved up for full GRS, but I suppose it makes sense that they need the tissue for the surgery.

The biggest problem with a Penectomy is the penis is relocated and used to construct the clitoris. It's the only sensitive material available for this function. In addition should you decide on inversion, all of the tissue will be needed as well. A Penectomy is only suitable for someone who has no interest in any form of sex after surgery.

since you had your orchie done , have you noticed any more dramatic changes from your HRT regime with the elimination of T from your body. Are things happening now more rapidly and  has your emotional state changed in any way.

A penectomy will pretty much eliminate the likelihood of constructing a vag, clitoris and labia.

Having a penectomy would condemn you to having sigmoid colon type SRS from which the results are, let us say, variable. The surgery is much more complex, when done there can be ongoing problems with discharge and odour, and the cosmetics can be poor.

Besides which as a doctor (which exams permitting I will be next year) I would almost certainly require exactly the same level of qualification for a penectomy as I would for SRS - so if you could convince a surgeon to do one, then by definition the same surgeon would be willing to do SRS. Nor is the cost going to be much different - so to put it rather bluntly this is a completely pointless and non feasible step, which would convey no benefit in timescale cost or eligibility to you.

If she took high dose estrogen and an anti-androgen, her T would be the same pre-op as it is now. No difference.

Hi Judith,

Unfortunately I can't say for sure as I didn't start my hormone therapy until roughly two weeks after my orchiectomy. I do know that I'm currently on a lower dose of estrogen. I definitely don't recommend starting hormones so late after surgery like I did though. The two weeks between the surgery and starting hormones were pretty terrible. Lots of hotflashes and insomnia, not to mention that my depression skyrocketed and was completely resistant to my meds.

As for feminization results, I can't say for certain. I've only been on HRT for a little over a month now, so it's likely way to early for me to notice any substantial difference yet either way.

I will say that the operation has made me almost entirely asexual, which I actually appreciate as I have a hard time seeing myself in any sort of intimate relationship prior to grs.
