Title: Hello
Post by: Odile on May 23, 2016, 12:18:54 AM
Hi!

I'm a MTF transsexual that has been living full time and working as a female for just over a year. At the moment I'm in the process of sorting out my two referrals for GRS. Easier said than done. *sigh*.

Welcome to Susan's Place. We have a post surgical crowd who may be able to help you and the people who are just starting will appreciate your help.

My letters were a long time ago. The first letter was easy because I was in a therapy group and my history was well known. The second required an hour review but there was not a problem getting the letter written. It seems like things have become a bit more complicated to day so I understand your feelings.

If there is anything you need, just ask and somebody will be glad to help you.

We issue to all new members the following links so you will best be able to use the web site.

Thanks Dena!

One of the referrals should be no problem, but the second may be a bit more tricky. I really should have read the SOC fine print before starting my RLE. Now it may require at least another 6 months. *Doh*

I do also have some technical questions relating to GRS which I'll post in the appropriate section. Really do need some help there from the post-op crowd.

I am happy to help however I can but my procedure is a bit dated today. If you have a surgeon selected make sure you let everybody know which one it is. If you haven't selected a surgeon - well that's also more complicated. I pretty much had only one option. Now days there are all over the place including one 30 miles away from me.

Thanks. Yes, we're much luckier today with all the surgeons to pick from. I tip my hat to anyone out there who managed to transition through to GRS without the internet and given peoples attitudes back then.

Anyway, I'd sort of set my sights on Dr Brassard but hadn't really thought it through based on my particular circumstances and what he'll have to work with. So may have to do some quick re-planning.

When you don't know there is an easer way, you do it the hard way.  ;D  I was lucky that by accident I connected with a therapy group where I could get the information I couldn't figure out for myself. As far as people attitudes, what they didn't know wouldn't hurt us. It was far easer to be stealth and people judged you more for the person you were that the image created by the news. In a way, I think in the last year or two it has become more difficult than it once was.

If you really have difficulty, not all surgeons require you to get two letters.

Midnightstar & AnonyMs: Thanks! I think my possible hold up with the surgeon accepting one of my referrals has been sorted out this week with some emails :). So hopefully can send them both off in a few weeks when I have the hard copies for both.
