Title: Surgical Sperm Retrieval SSR after HRT
Post by: PattyPat on June 02, 2016, 06:04:41 AM
Hello everyone,
I was referred to undergo a surgery under general anaestesia which gives 50% chances of sperm retrieval as I was on hormones for 6 years - on and off. The surgery would leave scars above the groins, it will not be through the scrotum because of future vagina's material. I am very scared and concerned. Is it worth the hassle? Chances are I am sterile anyway so why risking another surgery and recovery. On the other hand I am off from hormones for 18 months now and the side effects almost killed me. Should I come back to hormones and forget about my own children or go through it? Many thanks for any advice and thoughts of these ladies who had/have the same problem will be especially appreciated.

Do you have a woman willing to carry a child for you if you retrieve the sperm?  Do you have the resources and ability to raise a child to adulthood.

Without a plan reaching 25 years into the future, I can't see much reason to do this.
