Title: Shoes anonymous?
Post by: Denise on June 10, 2016, 04:22:06 PM
Okay, what is it about shoes?  I have a dozen pairs. I only started HRT two weeks ago so I'm not out to many people.  I go out in female attire once a week.

I saw a pair of sandals on a women in a fast food place the other day and if I had not been with co workers I've not come out to yet, i would have asked her where she got them.

I buy them two pairs at a time.  Some one posted in the"why are you happy" thread that they bought new shoes and two people replied, "hey you can't post you bought new shoes without pictures."

So again I ask, what is it about shoes?  Are there support groups?

My mother has instructions for my sister to be the first in her closet upon her death to hide how many pairs she really owns.  I'm afraid it runs in the family.

If money and storage space wouldn't be a problem I think I would have hard time restricting myself from buying so many shoes that I wouldn't know what to do with them :D

I love shoes, though more forwardly heels. I cannot walk with flat shoes like converse anymore, and also simulate heels in my combat boots, by placing inserts to lift my heel and heel alone with the taper down as like wedges.

Way early in my life, I used to have a huge collection of Chuck Taylor converse, almost every color under the sun, like seriously over 20 pairs, and this was when I was male mode all day every day with no overtly female thought pattern, at least that I was aware of. But now I'm starting to collect moreso heels to wear inu every day life. And I I can find combat high heels, sign me up!

My wife and I have so many pairs that we created a shabinet.  Basically, we took a vintage huge cabinet that was made to hold a CRT TV and shelved it and we put more than half of our shoes in there.  The shoe cabinet, or shabinet, is tell tale sign of our shoe addiction.

Its funny, over the weekend I hosted our 6 weekly BBQ, pretty much a firepit, BBQ, drinks, stand around and chat with my closest 10 friends.

I've got a few that are popping out kids and I set up a kids room in my room with Netflix.
One of the parents went to check on them and came out and said to everyone "Think Nicole has a problem"  I freaked out thinking they got into one of my draws, one peed the bed, but nope, she couldn't believe my shoe collection.
A few couldn't believe the size of it, I guess I shocked some when I showed them the rest of them.

I wouldn't say I'm addicted to shoes, I like them and I buy them, a lot I buy are from secondhand/op shops or from Target, Kmart/Big W. Some I will spend a fair bit on, but thats because I know I'll get a lot of wear out of them.

Ballet flats - I never spend less than $100 on them, because I know they'll be a day to day shoe.

I do own a lot of heels, but rarely wear them these days, I also don't throw away clothes.

Oh my.  If I was fully out, I'd have a real problem.  I have about a dozen pairs and I only get the chance to dress once a month on average.

I often look at online stores like 6pm, Amazon, etc and fantasize.

I'm about 5'11" and size 11 men's.  Wish I was shorter and smaller feet for sure because there aren't as many styles available but damn...one day...watch out world!

Gonna need a bigger closet!

Shoe Addiction?...noooo waaaay...well maybe just a tiny bit. I have a number of pairs but only a few I wear everyday, these tend to be flats. I do love the kitten heel style or slighty bigger but once I get over a certain height  I tend to fall off them HA HA

I am not full time yet, more like half time but one of the big annoyances for me is shoes... I always seem to need another pair, I mean prior to Transition I owned a pair of Motorcycle boots, plain black men's brogues, runners and thongs/Jandals/flipflops.  This covered all my needs, I didn't realise that once the "shoe beast" was out, you can't put her back...I have only just seriously started to get my wardrobe together for going full time in January and I already have 10 pair but I still haven't found that perfect everyday shoe...Previously getting them to fit correctly was difficult and I don't have big feet, I am a size 8-9 in Men's which means I am about a 10.5 -11 in women's. After my trip home to NZ I am going to a proper shoe store and get fitted for a couple of nice everyday shoes. (Depending on how much I don't spend on Jewelry (my biggest addiction) While I am away)

Ahhhhh Shoes....

And Amazon keeps sending me all these emails with gorgeous shoes... they know how to get me. My new goal: keep it to one pair / quarter. Outspent the next 2 years..

I am not out yet but Sarah has more shoes than my make side...

Hi I am Sarah and I am a shoe addict...

All this talk about shoes...went out and bought a new pair of shoes much to the sales girls surprise...but I will give her this, once she overcame her startled reaction she had the good grace to ask if I would like to try another size or was I happy with the fit...I did try another size and they really fit so much better.

Ahhh Shoes

Hmm... Since my last post here I have obtained another pair of athletic shoes.
So far as I see all the shoes I do have, which is a pair of high top converse, low top converse, a pair of red white and blue American flag style with thick laces, a pair of custom made velvet converse with my last name embroidered on the back, three athletic tennies, two of which are going to be phased out (due to kinda being on a male side variance), a pair of two inch block heels, a pair of I would call it vintage style kitten heel, and as I call my army issue combat boots, my combat high heels, due to several layers of inserts and heel supports, my inactive army issue boots as they simply are my total back up just in case, and my pair of dress shoes.

So overall I have 12 pairs of shoes. But as of a current as per wear on an at least monthly basis is 9.

I do remember way back before I knew of my true self, I did have a fascination with converse, seeing as I had over 20 pairs, I would constantly rotate to a different color each day. Along with purchasing them myself, I would get other colors as per gifts.
Lets see if I remember all the colors and styles... So I had the basic black with white trim, black with black trim, orange, red, pink, green with yellow interior, red with gold interior, navy, light blue, black and white striped, white with white trim but red stripe on the trim, brown, red white and blue American flag, silver, authentic leather, custom velvet (posterior black, anterior silver, with my last name embroidered on the back), knee high basic canvas, knee high leather, even one pair that had a pull out with some fluffy bits. These are all the ones I remember. So 18 that I truly remember, but I know I had more, and still have a few to this day.
Geez, how did I not know about myself sooner?

I also have a rainbow collection of Converse.

There are two pairs of shoes I have that are causing me upset to dwell on - a pair of handmade Italian shoes, and a pair of black Barker Chelsea boots. Both gifts from my mother, and too obviously male to wear, too lovely and expensive to get rid of. And I can't do that with lovingly given gifts anyway.

Alex,
Converse are fun because they can be in all shapes and sizes. But sadly I can't really wear them too much anymore. My feet wont allow much more than a single day of flat shoes. And to think I had plantar fasciitis, but to find out I have super high arches. I guess from one extreme to the next?

On the note of expensive I would have to go off the topic of shoes with a suit that was custom ordered years ago I cannot part with, but such is life.

Not a massive shoe fan, I prefer clothes.  However, wore some new boots 2 days ago, and let's just say they've murdered my feet.  No skin left on my heels, blisters on the top of my feet- well Walking Dead.  So worth it.

Shoes are where it all started for me.  It is how I start an outfit.  It all revolves around the shoes.   ;)

Yea..I have a shoe problem... my size is some where around 12/13.. I usually avoid going into shoe stores because i will buy every pair that fit me...(which makes wife unhappy...)  I am a weak individual... and I am caught in a catch 22.. Heels feel great due to foot issues.. but I am 6 feet tall and heels also draw the wrong attention... always trying to find a balance..
