Title: Getting those pecs!
Post by: RaptorChops on June 21, 2016, 06:41:05 PM
So I'm just curious as to what exercises some of you all did to get a larger chest. I've been doing alot of chest exercises about two times a week but feel like my chest isn't really developing. How many times a week do you do these exercises?

Typical muscle building is an average of every second day. If u gym/excersie, then a different muscle group each day. Thus giving your muscle time to rest, rejuvinate.

I'm still pre-op but I can tell you that I have designated days for different parts of my body. I tend to hit my chest two days a week because it's progressively getting more pec-ish and hopefully soon I'll be able to go without a binder. The exercises I do are based on pyramid sets, meaning I start with a lighter weight and move up each set. Here's my chest workout:

Incline dumbell flies: 10 reps for 3 sets
1 minute rest
10 Diamond pushups
3 minute rest
Incline dumbell press: 10 reps for 3 sets
1 minute rest
Flatbench dumbell press: 10 reps for 3 set
Five minute rest and then barbell press: to failure

Also: Eat more protein and get as much sleep as possible. Working out doesn't build the muscle, it tears it and breaks it down. Muscle building actually happens in your sleep when your body is healing itself.

Thank you both.

I eat pretty healthy and eat as much protein as I can stomach haha. Also I do protein shakes after working out as well as take glutamine and bcaa 30 minutes prior to exercise. I'm probably just not pushing my body enough! Sleeping on the other hand is another story.

Pushups don't hurt either, IMO. I think you can do those every day.

yeah I've been trying to find some exercises online because i'm away from home for the next 5 weeks so I don't have my home gym ;(. My work schedule is really hectic too so I can't find the time or motivation for that matter. I was doing push ups with my legs up on a table and pull ups. I hear that the chest is hard to build up too.
