Without T or with very low levels sexual interest becomes far more calculated than impulsive. You have to think about it and want it instead of being triggered by the least little thing. You should have your T levels checked and possibly your endo will need to adjust your dosage so you are in the upper range of the feminine level.
It's very common to have a reduction in libido and most of the time it's welcome however for others, it can be an uncomfortable experience.

My libido fluctuates. There have been times where I was only aroused or thinking about sex a few times a month (a blessing that shouldn't be overlooked!) and times where I've felt compelled to masturbate a couple times in one day. One thing that can affect it is the change in your sex drive... That's not just libido, or how often you're aroused now spontaneously. Your sexual interests may change. Orientation may or may not be in flux. And what you find 'sexy' and arousing can change. I lost interest in porn for the most part, but recently I found some 'romantic porn' and the eye contact alone was turning me on, lol. Arousal response is also going to change, and you have to learn the signs as they may not be immediately obvious.

Hi Josie,
My sex drive went to zero within a couple of weeks of starting HRT. In my case, my pre-HRT testosterone levels were low to begin with, and then got very low on spironolactone. I think this is pretty normal if you are on anti-androgens. My sex drive has never recovered, though, and it has been ten months. Fortunately, I really don't miss it. It just makes things easier during transition, in my opinion.
I should point out that my estradiol levels have barely been above the male range the whole time, so I have been an endocrinological eunuch. Many trans girls report that their libidos return once their estrogen levels are high enough. I have since changed endocrinologists, and I now have a more aggressive hormone regimen, so it will be interesting to see if it makes a difference.
With kindness,
Terri

Mine is zero and has been for three years. Hooray! If you want yours back you should talk to your doc about ways to increase your testosterone levels. Small increases in T shouldn't impact much on your feminisation from E but it something to keep in mind. The thing about T is that it is the powerhouse hormone for sex drive, so if you really enjoyed sex, when that goes you may feel like you've lost a substantial part of yourself.

Oh yes I need my sex drive. Lol. So what I'm gathering is that my body is basically hanging in the balance so to speak. I really hope that it changes once my T is lower and E is higher.

My sex drive came back in full swing a while into HRT.
You just got to relearn what the triggers are and embrace it.

Never had issues per-say while on hormones but then again I refrained from any encounters for the year prior to surgery.
About six months post-op I was back in the saddle again. Just a little under two years now post-op and there are times when my drive is over the top. Yesterday was one of those days where it was so intense it was difficult to act normally in public.
Bottom line is everyone is different and that many factors can have a hand in your labito being low or high.

One thing to remember is you don't have the same tell tail signs as before.
I think a lot of people confuse lack of hardness with a zero sex drive.
When I was pre-op I had to relearn and re-understand what were the signs. By about 12 months in to HRT I would masturbate and wouldn't be hard at all.

After SRS it went down even further. It ebbs and flows like the phases of the moon. About once a month there seems to be some drive on it own, otherwise I can induce it, but takes way more time. I like it though, and truly never want to go back to what I felt before, that horrible male libido is a nightmare... if men only knew... estrogen is pure bliss.

my sex drive dissolved within weeks of spiro only and aahhhhh what a relief. Now I can think freely without being overwhelmed with sex thoughts all the time. It's quiet down there unless I set my mind on sex thoughts, then the reaction is the same as it was before, but the ending quite different and muuuuuuch better. I was worried at first that I would lose capacity to have erections. I still am even if it's useless, but it's working as good as ever if not better :P I get it that this part varies a lot and might relate to things no one knows exactly. I think it's in the head. If sex turns you on, this should remain with hrt :-\ maybe.

Probably has to do with your cycle. I know a few days after my first period I was almost debilitatingly horny for about a day.

I am confused. If you are a trans sexual MtF, as your testosterone level falls and your HRT estrogen goes up, shouldn't one begin to have a female oriented libido?

Mine went down close to zero within about 6-8 months, but began returning in a different more feminine form at the end of last year. As others have mentioned, my turn ons changed, and rather than being a compulsion as it was before, i can choose arousal and romance/emotional turn ons are far greater.
