Title: Specific Quesiton - Any information welcome :)
Post by: question1834 on July 03, 2016, 08:22:53 AM
Hi,

I'm mtf and have been taking gnrh analogues for just over 2 years.

I'm going to stop taking these and have been looking for any resources or information on what to expect, but it is hard to find any.

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of what to expect if I stop taking them? will testosterone and functioning return, to what extent, how long might that take, are there any permanent effects other than being sterilized.

im not looking to discuss at all why i want to stop, although i understand there may be curiosity there, but if anyone has any information on this I would really appreciate it, thanks.

Hi Hon and welcome to Susan's

Without asking questions! You really need the advice of your endocrinologist and medical team. You may need controlled supplement HRT to return your hormonal levels to your assigned gender status. If that is what you wish.

There is nothing wrong in changing your mind after being on blockers!

It is your life and your body and you deserve to be happy!

However, there is no one hear who can give you medical advice

Thanks a lot for replying, i wasnt looking for any form of medical advice at all, although i understand the line between "information" and "advice" might be quite thin.

I just am in the dark over what to expect if you stop taking gnrh analogues, and finding it hard to find any information.

i will speak to my endocrinologist and medical team, they would be the best for this type of question, its just i am not able to see them for a good few months and i was really hoping to get some understanding of what to expect.

My understanding is that you would need a reintroduction to your assigned HRT and over a short time period you would establish normal production.

If you were puberty blocked, puberty would then kick in and the team would want to help you deal with that physiological and of course psychological adjustments.
Depending where you are coming from and of course that is private to you, there are family, sociological etc issues to be dealt with and your medical team can and will help with that.
