Title: What if we were born cis

and didn't understand transgender people? I think I would try to understand us anyway, because I try to understand things I naturally don't.

I think I would too. I think the movie E.T. was really all about trying to understand the unknown and that we should learn to sympathize with the unknown instead of being fearful and ignorant of it. I have no idea what things would be like as a cis person, but I think I would at least be respecting towards people different from me as I do now as a trans person.

If I had been born CIS there's a pretty good chance that I'd be a right wing nutjob.

I developed a lot of empathy for women's issues because I don't want to be a woman they seemed to have hit me twice as hard as cis women because I never wanted to be a woman. I will remain a supporter of women's rights.

I think I'd try to learn and understand as much as possible. I already do that regarding things I don't quite understand. Kindness, understanding, respect and empathy... these are traits that lots of people don't seem to have these days. When they don't understand something, they make jokes about it instead.  :(

I think that's their way of processing new information.

I try to understand everything, and to give people some benefit of the doubt if there is any. But if I was cis there'd be no real need for me to understand it deeply, so it probably wouldn't occur to me to learn more unless some experience or person prompted me to. Thinking of all the subjects I haven't even got into yet, trans people would probably be one of them.

I'd probably be transphobic. Furthermore, I would likely not care about trans or intersex issues.

For many, I am sure this is the case. My mother is very homophobic, and only learned to understand some of the issues, due to me being her flesh and blood daughter.

Sadly as much as I wish I'd transitioned earlier or been born female, if I had:

- I would still be a blind religious bigot with a very closed mind (raised that way)
- I'd probably not be working with computers and making good money
- I may have gotten pregnant and married and divorced by now for all I know (that's what my younger sister has been)

If I had been born cis-gendered as the woman who was always inside me, I would have been much like I am today.  It was her personality that shaped the character of who I am today.  I would be a feminist, friends of lesbian, gay and trans people of all varieties.  I would agree with my wife that men are stupid.

If I had been born as a cis-gendered version of the man they told me I was supposed to be, I would probably be  d***head.  I would hope that I wouldn't be  redneck racist, but maybe I would.  I can't quite relate to that person, because that's not who I am.
