Title: VFS with Dr. Haben
Post by: Wynternight on July 08, 2016, 02:17:58 PM
I made the deposit and scheduled VFS with Dr. Haben for 19 October. I'll add a recording or two of my voice pre-op and post-op and detail my experiences here. I'm very excited and nervous!

Congratulations! I hope everything goes well for you. Also check out a place called The Beer Market if you can. They have amazing pizzas! Also lots of beer, lol. I don't think they're exclusive to Rochester, but I'd never been when I went.

I'm a sucker for a nice meat pizza and a pint of stout! Thank you for the suggestion.  ;D

I looked up The Beer Market and their pizzas look absolutely wonderful. A generous amount of toppings on each. However... a big question... did you go the night before your surgery or after? I'm not sure that might be a good idea for me since I have a big acid reflux problem. I fear it might hinder the healing process, but I will consider it on a followup appointment.

Before the surgery. After the surgery you want something not spicy as it can cause you to cough and I was trying to find a bland soup as it would feel good going down. I didn't want to swallow anything lumpy. Besides that, my teeth were so beat up and a little loose after surgery so chewing wasn't a fun experience.

Yeah I went the day before surgery. Dr Haben warned me against getting something called a "garbage plate" from local restaurants. It's like a mashup of foods all thrown together on a plate.  Apparently it's a Rochester thing. Yes eating the few days after surgery was not enjoyable. More like "I need to eat so I guess I will", lol.
