Title: Haircut?
Post by: supergirl23 on July 12, 2016, 06:37:27 AM
I am visiting family in less than a week but I am trying to grow my hair out. It's not long enough yet to really look great, but I've been thinking about getting a cute pixie or something short but feminine just to really take that next baby step. None of my family knows that I'm trans and the last time they saw me I was very much trying to become a man. My uncle is probably the coolest ever and I want him to be proud of me as a man, but I know that trying to suppress my transness won't last for much longer. I guess what I'm trying to ask is, should I get a male haircut or should I maybe try to take another baby step?

I think it is time to start thinking about a coming-out strategy.  I'm not saying you need to do it this visit, but you should start planning for it.

For the upcoming visit, I'd suggest no haircut.  If you get a masculine haircut, you will regret it and have to start over.  If you get a feminine haircut, you will have to do some explaining that you may not be ready for.  If you want to postpone coming out, just tell them you want to grow your hair out a bit.

Well my hair is really messy right now and it does need a cut or at least something. is there something you recommend?

Just go someplace, tell them you are growing out your hair and need it neatened up.

I would just let it grow; a lot of the older people remember long hair males from the less conservative Woodstock era.

Like others have said, just let it grow.  There will be a period of many months where it's in between and messy but it will eventually get there.

I just got mine buzzed nice and short.  Maybe 1/2" on the side.

Wait?  WHAT?  There's madness to my method.  Or something like that...

I'm a Norwood Class Va or VI.  Nothing on top and not enough donor follicles available to do anything more than The Combover From Heck.  So, I buy my hair off the shelf.  For the price of what would be a really inadequate hair transplant I can get maybe 50 to 100 pretty darn nice wigs and a lifetime supply of wig tape and whatnot.

So, I cut my native hair really short so my selected hair I present to the world fits better, cooler, and more comfortable. ;)

(Translation:  A nice wig makes moving back and forth between two worlds easier.)

I vote for a haircut so you look nice but there are a number of haircuts that are close enough that they could be styled for a man or a woman. My current style is some what of  a bowl cut but refined a bit. It's still not exactly what I am after but it's close. I suggest you look through the following link and see if you can select a cut that would work with your length and can be styled either way.

My hair has grown to the point that I am getting this too, that I live a 'wild life'.  I was never an obsessive compulsive when it came to grooming, but consider myself presentable.  What to do, What to do, nor a sausage to do...
