Title: Any other FtM crossdressers here?
Post by: TheJesseBoy on July 19, 2016, 03:58:17 PM
Hi!  I'm a female-to-male crossdresser.  Wondering if there are any others out there.  Most of what I've met online are MtF.

JesseBoy,

Welcome to the site. I am like the majority you have met but more full out trans. We have a lot of cross dressing members so hopefully someone can get in touch with you.

I also want to share some links with you. They are mostly welcome information and the rules that govern the site. If you have not had a chance to look through them, please take a moment:

Don't mind me.  I had an account a while back but quite frankly I don't remember either the name or the email, so it's probably lost to time.

I'm a female to male, but I'm transitioning. I'm not just a crossdresser. Do you identify as male or just cross dress?

Welcome to Susan's Place. You are asking a somewhat difficult question. I was in group therapy and transitioned 1979-1982 and one thing that was said was there was no such thing as a FTM cross dresser because society accepted women wearing men's clothes but not men wearing woman's clothes. I suspect that statement may have been partially false because I have seen a few examples of FTM cross dresser on this site. Personally I suspect they may be near equal in numbers to MTF cross dressers but may not identify as cross dressers. I suspect you will discover them in the non binary section as there seems to be a health number of FT? non binary members who are still in the process of discovering where they fit in. They will not identify themselves by title but you will find them by how they feel about themselves.

I do identify as female, but I enjoy exploring a masculine persona.  For me crossdressing isn't just wearing men's clothes, but an actual attempt to pass for male (even if I generally identify as female).  So it's distinct from, say, wearing boy's pants because they're sturdier but still presenting as female.

I understand where you are coming from. There is a fair number of MTF cross dressers on the site and I find their posting very interesting to read as it gives me more insight to that aspect of the non binary. It's relatively easy for me to flip the genders and see it from your viewpoint. As I said above, it blows what we learned in therapy out of the water.

Another thing I learned after coming to the site is cross dressing can be an escape where the person is comfortable with "vacations" from their birth gender or they are only comfortable moving as close to full time as possible. This is clearly visible in the MTF population and I suspect it exist in the FTM population as well but I haven't found much in the way of examples. There was one several months back who was living full time and the only medical intervention that was consider was breast removal. Unfortunately that thread kind of died and I lost track of the member.

I think the "vacations" is more how I see it.  I identify as female and am happy presenting as female most of the time, but I like to explore a male identity at times.

It's interesting as a woman dressing as a man.  It's harder in some ways because of the lack of clothing that's specifically coded male in the same way as, say, skirts or lace are coded female.  On the other hand, it's less of a trouble if I get caught - people are more likely to assume I'm just butch.

I'm a mtf but have never really learned how to dress male,I hate suits,so just wear jeans and t-shirts in the winter and shorts and t-shirts in the summer. Even when I dress male I feel like I'm crossdresser and am horrible at it,i feel more comfortable dressing female and am horrible at that...lol

I don't really consider myself a cross-dresser but a female inside that is trying to find her way out. I love wearing female attire not because of any thing sexual but because it has always felt right to my heart and soul.

I think for some crossdressers the vacation concept is a very apt description.  Others of us don't try to pass but enjoy the softer, frilly side of things we are denied in the male world.  I can totally flip the script and see how a female might want to see what all the rough and tumble is about.  I wonder if we see less FTM CD's because its more acceptable for a female to do the tom boy thing?  In that line of thinking a woman may wear jeans & t-shirt and no one thinks anything of it; that may be enough for some women to get that masculine expression out.

I know my wife for example likes to feel girly, but there are times she wears more guy appearing attire.  She's very accepting of my dressing and likewise I encourage her do dress as she feels most comfortable.  We are all diverse complex beings :)

I've never felt like I'm cross dressing when I wear mens clothing... only when I wear women's clothing (dresses and fancier stuff). When I got married, I wore a dress and one inch heels... I had a retired drag queen show me how to walk because I walk like a guy and always have. I still felt like nothing more than a dude in a dress.
