Title: Resources for parents?
Post by: Ollie_Ryan on July 20, 2016, 10:22:57 PM
I'm planning to come out to my mom as FTM trans soon. I've already written the letter I'm going to give her, but I'd like to find some resources I could direct her towards after she reads it. Does anyone know of any good YouTube videos or articles that I could show my mom after I come out as FTM? I've got some good ones from PFLAG and a video from Skylar Kergil, but they're not exactly what I'm looking for. I'd like to find something that will sort of show her that this is a real thing and there are trans guys out there who are happy and accepted, that type of thing.

Feel free to move this if it would belong in a different section (like the FTM-specific one)

I am not sure exactly what you are looking for but you might want to look at our WIKI  (https://www.susans.org/wiki/Transgender) and  "the transition channel"  (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfO3B57E6NpIn-KsVjvmLLw). Normally I give this links to people who are attempting to figure themselves out but the transition channel is a real therapist discussing the questions that are normally asked in therapy. You can show your mother just how different your answers are from hers.
